Looking for advice on addons for weather, textures, and terrain.

Theres any REX fans but most like to use weather engines and REX for texture's... Nothing wrong with Rex's weather engine its quite good actually its just personal preference.

I know many people including myself would not fly without REX

Ronnie, in the grand scheme of things, our user-base and our server statistics tell us differently.

I am sure they do. I was just wondering why not many people mentioned REX here. BTW thanks for the discount, it makes it even more attractive!

Eagerly waiting for SimAir! Any news on the release date?

I find OPUS very complicated and daunting!  I think  it is really meant for those into the tube-liners and flying virtual airlines.  I just want to setup weather conditions or get current weather like FSX offers, but I want better cloud rendition than FSX provides.  I also want better water textures...I live a 6 miles from the Pacific in Oregon and I have never seen the ocean the shade of blue that FSX shows.  I downloaded FSWC for water rendition, but It doesn't seem to be doing anything.  I wanted to get rid of the light blue water around Seattle and tried a few different settings in FSCW but nothing changed...probably did something wrong.  They have a bunch of presets to choose from that look good in the preview window, but not in the sim. I know! I should read the instructions, right?  I will, I will! I'm sure it's my fault!

One other option is AS2012 by HiFi simulation's . It is very easy to use , plus you can change the color of both inland  and ocean water .

OPUS is one of the easiest things to set up in fligtsim. If your just going for a flight around all you have to do is open it and you are set. Don't need to use the camera functions either

FEX may be worth a look then if you want a fairly simple Clouds, Sky and water textures upgrade.

I found Opus to be extremely simple in terms of getting weather. I have rex and I use those textures with opus. I switched from rex because it was taking too long to load up the weather. Opus is very fast. Rex has since updated their software and its much faster than it used to be. Still I find opus very simple. The opus cameras I haven't been able to figure out though and so i would agree those are kind of complicated, but that is separate from the weather. Rex is a great value at the current sale price.

FSWC doesn't work with shader 3 mod by Bjotoe.  So if you are seeing very light blue texture then that is what caused it. You need to restore default textures.
