Outer Marker Sound

Recommended Posts

Per FCOMv2 page 5.10.1 to 5.10.3 it appears that if the Approach Receiver Selector is set to MKR and the button to it's left is pressed when passing over the outer marker I should hear something. I have also tried the above in conjunction with the Speaker Volume Control on. Still can't hear anything. I must be doing simething wrong. Does anyone know whar it is.

Thank you

A screenshot of what your settings are would be infinitely helpful.

Additionally, are you sure you flew an approach that used an OM?  Many of them are decommissioned in favor of of DME or GPS/Nav-overlay display of fixes.

Attached is screenshot.

I have never heard an OM sound in the 777. Hear them all the time In the NGX and MD-11. VHHH 07l, KJFK 04R, KDFW 17C, and KSFO 28R to name a few.

Thanks

Shouldn't the speaker light be lit up?

EDIT - Just checked the Ops manual, push the speaker volume control (SPKR)

It works for me just fine.  Are you seeing the visual indication on the PFD?  It could be an FS keyboard command that could be disabling it as well.

Where in the manual does it say that you need SPKR enabled?

Works just fine without it.

Have no idea where in the PMDG manual since I don't own it yet. I'm looking at the Qatar airways freighter FCOM., chapter 5 section 10 (Communications controls and Indications)

However, you could very well be correct. In the picture I was looking at the SPKR light is lit up green, I just assumed it would need to be lit up in order to hear navaid idents and the marker beacon.

Works for me. In the sim shouldn't the button be lit up?

The 777 audio control panel knobs are always lit.  The green LED above them indicates if they are selected..

The SPKR is just that, a speaker, which I don't think is implemented (as opposed to the headset).

Oh, it could be for external speakers, but I don't use those.

Pressing the speaker volume control worked. Thank God for the Qatar FCOM because I can find nothing about the speaker volume control being tied into marker sounds in the Boeing FCOMv2 provided by PMDG.

Thanks very much
