Default X-Plane 10 has so many "easter eggs", and the detail is incredible. For example, the aircraft carrier is very animated, not just a block pushing through the sea. The deck elevator thingy moves up and down and so on. The oil platform has moving cranes and smoke effects.

Also, the helicopter is the DMO Sikorsky S-92 that I bought today. INCREDIBLE! I have never felt flight dynamics in FSX like I have today in XP, it's a real piece of work to fly ;)

Yes, specially when it comes to rotary wing, FSX can't even compare with X-Plane.

Helicopters, specially when well designed, are a must to fly in X-Plane.

Main Simulation Rig:

Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.

Lenovo TB310FU 9,5" Tablet for Navigraph and some available external FMCs or AVITABs

Just to play devil's advocate, you picked two, highly detailed models that used to be commercial offerings but were incorporated into X-Plane 10's default scenery, so using them as your benchmark is to essentially put your thumb on the scale.

Having said that, I will agree that in general default X-Plane 10 is not that bad in the visuals department.  In fact, it looks pretty darn good most of the time.

X-Plane really does have a lot of high points.  The Nimitz and the oil rigs were developed by the same guy who came up with the B-25 and the freeware B-17, now that is something special a payware developer giving back.  The new lego brick airports being included in future releases are also something I get excited about, I feel user submitted content makes X-Plane "The Peoples Sim".  A very cool and refreshing approach.

Mountain Man they are free in 10 right?  I don't see your point......Just playing the advocate to the assistant advocate to the devils assistant  :D

Well, my point is: This is DEFAULT! I know other areas don't look so polished, but I want to show some of the nicer areas, that some people didn't even know about.

I was just on the Khamsin website (the guy who created these masterpieces), these rigs and aircraft carriers are freeware, so that XP9 users can have them too. But are included as stock in XP10.

And, if I get this excited over default stuff, just wait until I can get my hands on SkyMAXX Pro by

I don't think I'll be able to contain myself :/

Hang tight!

No, you just need to bring up the "local map" view, and if there is some larger water body near you, you will see a few "strange" icons splatted across it, which show you where each of those features (the carrier, the frigate and the oil rig) are located at the moment (they change position randomly when you load a new region).

Thanks Andras, I will have a bit more of a look around.  I did a quick look but didnt find any off the coast of KSFO.

I would get to it now but I have a big update happening after finding I was on 10.22, how did my beta tick box get unticked?!

You also need to have the setting "draw aircraft carriers and frigates" activated in your "Rendering Options" .... otherwise - of course - you will not see them.
