November 14, 201312 yr Jim is sometimes a bit harsh, but always playing the devils advocate, and keeps the discussion going. Dont let yourself get bitten by him, he has his purpose, altough i often have to bite on my tongue. I just ignore. I could roll my eyes but then I would have to pay big time $$$$ in a cornea replacement  Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
November 14, 201312 yr My favorite is the threads where people respond to the question by saying do a search. Then six months later when I come across the same issue and do a google search for the answer I get excited because I find a thread with a person having the exact same issue as me and then I look at the thread and the answer is do a search. I just did the search and this is what I get! My second favorite scenario is when someone asks the question and then posts later on they fixed the problem, yet they don't bother to say how they fixed it. If you find the solution on your own its always nice if you can remember to go back and update your thread with the solution, so that people who may have the same issue in the future can get the answer. In terms of the threads about best of programs, if there is a current thread then the person should be reading that. If there is a thread that is several months old and new products have been released then people are just looking for the most current information. Maybe something newer and better came out since the original thread, so I can see why they are asking.
November 15, 201312 yr IMO If you/we want this thread to be kept alive. I wouldn’t start pointing fingers to single persons, and BTW, it’s not only users. They know who they are! (Or at least I hope so). Yea but its sad when you have 5k+ posts and close to 10 yrs on avsim and treat people like crap. Someone like that should be as helpful as possible and looked up to. Not down.. not everyone can be a know it all.. otherwise we would live in a perfect world. Kacper Nowotynski
November 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member A few simple guidelines: 1. The only stupid question is the one not asked. 2. Not everyone is as much a computer genius as you are. 3. Don't post something you wouldn't appreciate being said to you in person. A shame they're not really followed much. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
November 15, 201312 yr There should be more 'Opa's'. Signed: A. Lurker Schnelle Autos, schöne Frauen und deutsches Bier ! "Artificial Intelligence is no match for natural stupidity."
November 15, 201312 yr Quoted from Wolfickespie: "Bad rude people come here and spit out obnoxious garbage" (or something like that). Hey Buddy, What in the H-E-Double-Hockey Sticks are you ranting about? There is no one who is rude here! We have not kicked out hundreds, if not thousands (anything over 20 is meaningless to me since I run out of fingers and toes) because of their rude conduct, but because we didn't like the sneer on their faces when they didn't show us proper respect! Watch out, or you may be next!!! Signed ever so sincerely (Not!): Mr. Bye Bye American Pie, took my Chevy to the Levi... Seriously, thank you for revealing your heart. We here appreciate it and want to make a positive difference too. Kind regards,
November 15, 201312 yr Moderator That's the prime aspect of a true Forum Bull above all others for me: That sense that the particular individual is tolerated above and beyond the call, apparently by those running the forum itself, even if the occasional token wrist slap is made. I've stopped forum diving at several flight sim websites primarily because the resident "Forum Bull(s)" are moderators... Wasn't this what created the need for Altavista, Yahoo and eventually Google? IMHO it is amazing how Google finds relevant content event with not-so-good key terms in the search string..... Google's search capabilities have greatly improved over the years to the point where one can actually type in a complete question and it will parse the sentence fairly well enough to provide meaningful results. The recent commercial showing a young boy who suffers from "glossophobia" who uses Google to get help is a great example... ...especially his next question "How do I ask a girl out?" :LMAO: https://www.google.com/#q=how+do+i+ask+a+girl+out Or, more in keeping with the theme of aviation "How do you do an ILS approach?": https://www.google.com/#q=how+do+you+do+an+ils+approach Fr. November 18, 201312 yr Like many others I have found the flightsim community to be more civilized than most out there but I suppose that also means it gets more than its fair share of the bleeding heart, people who are obsessed with niceness and blows their tops every time someone isn't ticking all the political correctness boxes and comes up with silly terms like "forum bulls", which only serves to magnify the problem by giving the people they're trying to fight reason to go on. The next time you're reading something you don't like the sound of (you may be doing it right now), take a few seconds to ask yourself "is this worth getting upset about?". If the answer is yes then go for a walk. If, when you come back, the answer is still yes then fine, reply if you must. Rolf Lindbom

Hmm, so considering whether what I say to other people will make them upset, whether that's really necessary, and whether there's maybe a nice way to rephrase it makes me a bleeding heart who is obsessed with political correctness? I thought it just made me polite, and maybe even pleasant company, but thanks for clearing that up for me. Now if you'll excuse me I need to mop up all this blood that has bled from my heart.
