Do I need more RAM?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I was wondering if anyone could recommend if I need more RAM for my system. My current specs is an i5-3570K overclocked to 4.0ghz, 8gb of 2400 DDR3 RAM on Windows 8.

I currently run FSX with the following running at the same time: Jetboost, Voice Attack, AvlaSoft EFB, Track IR, VRiSim (for M Panel), an external weather generator and I am considering purchasing Voxatc.

I know that FSX cannot use more than 4gb, but I was worried about all the other stuff running as well as Windows.

I am considering buying another 8gb module of RAM to give me 16gb. Do I need it?

Any help and advice much appreciated.

John

Do I need it?

No.

But if it makes you feel better, why not?  But then again why not 32gb?  You can run a whopping RAM disc with that much ram.

8GB is fine if your rig is only for FSX

If only for FSX, 8GB is all you need. Infact, 8GB dual channel (2x4GB sticks) is the optimum format for FSX and CPU overclocking.

If you are doing things like video editing, 3D CAD modelling and the like, then more memory is useful.
