It´s doing wonders to some of our older stuff..all these guys might get the full native P3D V2.0 treatment eventually

will we see rain splashing on the windows like in real life ?

Excited. :)

I don't suppose anyone has any information on pricing, download or DVD options (I am assuming this is going to be over 20 GB), and if that annoying watermark will be gone even in the 'educational' version.

Very beautiful lighting. Reminds me of Microsoft Flight.

As long as thats the only thing about Microsoft Flight it reminds you of.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

No, it also reminds me of those cockpit shadows, the cloud rendering and the autogen from Microsoft Flight. When Prepar3D 2.0 is released then we'll see if the flight dynamics are as good as Microsoft Flight.

Excited. :)

you are correct.

IMO. Looks to be mainly a Textures performance change/improvement. Which is a very good start. Iv'e seen very little if any change as far flight dynamics etc.

On the subject of flight dynamics, WBard of Lockheed Martin said in two posts on 11 November

We've done a lot for v2.0. The internal flight dynamics are limited, so we've opened up new ways for developers to use custom or tailored flight models. The core helicopter flight models won't be changing, but it is now easier for developers to build their own dynamics and physics and flight models. So, it's really up to the addon developers now. Hope that helps answer your question!

and

We can't really mess with the internal models too much without worrying about breaking backcompat, so instead of adding a few things, we opened up a new interface, and are having a lot of success with it internally, so hopefully a few addon developers can leverage it to make some really amazing addon content.

My interpretation is that there's little, if any, change to flight dynamics but that there's a facility for add-on developers to create their own -  if they decide it's commercially viable.

Not everything was bad in Microsoft  Flight. It had some good stuff too.

What they have done is make easier for a developer to inject their own custom flight dynamics into the sim, bypassing the sim's own system. Of course this means that these custom flight dynamics will be more complex and will take more time to develop since it won't be just a matter of tweaking some tables in the .air file but to actually code aircraft behavior.

True, but it will involve more than coding. They'll  have to acquire realistic aircraft aerodynamic data from somewhere and how much will that cost - even if it's available?

That's the five hundred pound gorilla in the room, isn't it? Remember "Beware of what you wish since it can be granted."
