Prepar3D v 2.0 will come out in November

Featured Replies

Sorry, but that is factually incorrect. Every EventID and Token Variable introduced in the Acceleration SDK is included in the Prepar3D SDK for v1.x so I see no reason why they'd not be carried forward to the v2.x SDK.

I'm sitting here looking through both SDK's and have verified every single one of them is present... ^_^

That is excellent news.

I spoke to someone having the ESP SDK and he said it missed a few of the Acc feauters like super charged piston engines (found in the P-51 racer), and some of the helo functions introduced with the EH101.

IF I install P3D along with my existing FSX setup.. Do I have to re-install all my sceneries? could I simply copy the entries from my existing scenery.cfg over to the P3D scenery config file and then use them? I am talking about things like Mega scenery and most airport sceneries that does not mess with FSX folders like Orbx does.

ESP1 SDK != P3D SDK :ph34r:

ESP2 SDK (never published!) == P3D SDK

@Manny: we should be able to simply point to our existing ..\Addon Scenery folder(s).

This is interesting!

Having add-ons from a good number of 3 parties, as it seems evident, once this platform proves having good performance and becomes stable to run in Win8 (and beyond) it should be a viable replacement for FSX for the long run!

The cost is higher ($200 per license) but overall it should be affordable because we could save in expensive HW

@Manny: the basic file structure has not changed. All you have to do is copy your scennery to the appropiatye folder.

The problem is with those products that require activation since the support must come from the relevant vendor/developer.

@wlix261: Althoughv the licensing and pricing is unknown at this time I do believe that LM will maintain the same license options as they currently exist. The only change would be to add the Professioanl Plus license which gives access to the weapons system.

Is the PMDG777 the only payware aircraft that we know will not work with V2.0?

I wouldn't worry about PMDG, they'll join P3D eventually (not much option if they want to continue).

It's great to see so many other vendors already involved in P3D v2.0.  I'm really looking forward to what their SDK can do.

That'll make life easier!

A2A Simulations use ACC features for many of their aircraft.

No we don't. The only addon that needed acceleration for manual turbo control was the original B377 (before COTS expansion).

Apologies for my ignorance but do those who already have a license get V2 for free or is this a completely new product? I bought the academic version quite a while ago and just haven't made the jump over to P3D yet basically because of PMDG not yet supporting the platform.

You must purchase a new V2 license. It is exactly as moving from FS9 to FSX, each requires their own license.

Video visuals look great as do the many pictures that are surfacing. But I dont understand the instant negativity or pessimism already for something not officially released. The video itself might be somewhat choppy but who knows what the variables are doing to the video as to hardware and software.

LM made it clear that your GPU will be challenged alot and to get the best you can afford. There are alot of improvements. Probably alot that you and I wont see, because a tremendous amount of bad code was removed and memory management is supposed to have been greatly improved. Everyone wants every problem FSX has to be suddenly fixed and completely gone. V2 looks to be a commitment of an ongoing project that continues to be better and better. But as long as backwards compatibility is in there (which was what everyone was concerned about) then you cant have everything be suddenly fantastic. Backwards compatibility means your still keeping previous parts in existence despite it being flawed or negative on performance.

As for MS Flight, sure while it was silky smooth for the most part, it had a limited world of Hawaii and Alaska. No 3rd party support and thus led it to its demise. Where is it now? So I think we should be happy that we are finally making progress here in steps with previous p3d versions, and now we have a much larger step. LM has invited 3rd party support including many FSX devs with open arms, and made that even more clear by making sure the internal engine allows alot of workability for their own product improvements and a better sim experience overall.

Not saying it will be the best out there, one because its not out yet, but more because its purely subjective to your own liking and preferences. There is other platforms that are competitive. And competition is always a good thing.

BTW there is another link here from a well known person who is a beta tester. His feedback has said that the performance is actually pretty good, but again subjective and keep in mind is a beta.

Nor do I understand all the speculation  about a product to be released in a less than a couple of weeks. It will be what it will be.

Remember the pre release weeks of FSX, there was excitement here...But I don't see the same level of excitement for the P3D V2.

How come?

Hmmm... :)

Simple. Microsoft was a marketing machine. With alot of promotion and as a game heaven forbid that word.

This is a real simulation. Not a game. LM and p3d is never presented as such. Its for the serious simmer who wants to train, and learn all there is to know about flying and put those skills to use whether it be in simulation only or a career at some point in RW.

Further, there has been alot of bashing to make it fail among FSX users. LM is not going to push it on anybody. Only the market of 3PDs and its users will determine how it plays out and the excitement it develops or not.

And if the price point is indeed 199$, then that weeds out a whole lot of people who are not serious about our hobby or as a simulation as a whole. Im guessing that if you spend money on serious simulation aircraft, weather, and scenery, along with charts, and navdata, your excited about this next sim that above all hopes to make it alot more stable and removes alot of former fsx bugs opening up alot of doors to possibilities. Thats all weve been asking for the past few years hasnt it?

I run 3+1 monitor set up 3X24" Dell and 1 19" touch screen. I currently have the GTX670FTW.. Would it help if I get the GTX780 card for the P3D? Any ideas?
