Can anyone comment on the very annoying FSX bug that is the "dynamic" head movement? I.e. when you turn, your viewpoint will shift.

Would highly appreciate it :-)

That is easy, all you have to do is to ask :)

Open your fsx.cfg file with a notepad, find the section that says [DynamicHeadMovement] and replace it with this:

[DynamicHeadMovement]

LonAccelOnHeadLon=-0.000000

LonAccelOnHeadPitch=-0.000000

RollAccelOnHeadLat=0.000000

YawAccelOnHeadLat=-0.000000

RollAccelOnHeadRoll=0.000000

MaxHeadAngle=5.000000

MaxHeadOffset=0.300000

HeadMoveTimeConstant=0.000000

Except that does not fix it.

I've tried all available "fixes", workarounds, possible solutions..

In that case you have installed something that provides dynamic head movement other than default. And what 'that is' only you (should) know :P

Have you, or have you ever had EZdoc installed, or fsrecorder? Accusim? Or any other addon that produces dynamic movement?

I have none, and I can assure you that my virtual pilot's head is rock solid. The above fsx.cfg entry was copied & pasted directly from my own current cfg. B)

I can assure you that my virtual pilot's head is rock solid.

And I can assure you that you are very wrong. You will likely not see this phenomenon if you do not fly more than a thousand miles in one journey. You will notice the effect more if you're flying diagonally across the globe i.e. there is a large change in longitude and latitude away from the equator. You don't actually have to fly anywhere, you can just load up a flight at one airport, then move the aircraft to another airport at least 1000 miles away and compare the camera locations with screen shots and instantly you should be able to see the shift that we are talking about.

In the forward view in the VC you'll notice the position has shifted to the left or to the right, forward or back. If you have a camera setup to view the overhead panel or the radio stack for example in the NGX, you'll notice it is no longer centred in the view and perhaps part of it is not even visible anymore.

This problem most certainly does exist and unfortunately at this time there was no fix for it, third party camera addons have zero bearing on whether you see this problem or not, its the type of flying you do that will decide whether you witness it or not. One other thing that has a large influence is the size of the aircraft, the further the eyepoint is away from the centre of the aircraft model the worse the effect is. So large aircraft like the NGX and 777 will see it more easily than say the Baron.

Cheers, Andy.

Hi there!

Looking forward to P3d v2 as well.

One question tough: does anybody know if sceneries have to be adapted to work with p3d v2 or will they work out of the box?

Got some airports from flytampa and one scenery with underlying satellite-images.

And, as I just came across the New York screenshots in the other thread: anyone knows if wave hight/appearance will change depending on wind strength?

Thanks for clarification!

Yesss! That looks great! Didn't notice that post.

Thx!

Nice video. Great improvements over FSX: Waves and Clouds.

The fix for the eternal loss of FPS when the mouse cursor is showing is of great interest to me as well! It's such a silly way to lose 5fps...

About the camera chaging position across the globe, let's hope they fixed that as well.

Really cannot get excited about this new version. I only fly PMDG products. Such a shame LM and PMDG cannot meet on some common ground. I get the feeling that with v 2.0 release that the snowball effect of dev's supporting it will grow ever larger. My hope is there will be a tipping point were us the end user's begin showing our disenchantment with PMDG's stance with our wallets. If v 2.0 is of such quality and with more and more dev's building software for it, it is hard to imagine more people leaving FSX behind. Why wouldn't they? There are a few hold out dev houses that are refusing to support LM. I get the feeling that maybe 2014 may be when LM's product puts more, if not the final nail in FSX's reign as the number 1 FS sim platform. I imagine on PMDG's next product release, the 744 v2 if sales are no were near forecasted levels, they may change their tune. I know after I bought the 777 from them it will be my last aircraft purchase from them.

And I can assure you that you are very wrong.

Of course I'm not wrong, and certainly not very wrong, how dare you.  :P

He asked "Can anyone comment on the very annoying FSX bug that is the "dynamic" head movement?"

That was what I was replying to. Dynamic head movement is what it is, an effect to simulate the dynamic visual feel of...the dynamics of flight.

On the other hand, you are right about the rest, 1'st that we were clearly adressing different issues, and it's an issue I havent noticed since I dont fly longer flights than 4-600 nm, and my flights mostly takes place in a very limited area flying routes along latitudes across a rather small patch of our globe :lol:

But I did as you suggested, and it (the view) did change slightly. Kinda funky since all data related to head position is defined, as you said, to the center of the aircraft model and not coordinates. Well you learn something new everyday. But that leads to another thought, if the viewpoint shifts, what else tied to the aircraft CoG shifts possition, lights (assuming they are effects and not 3D modelled), location of fueltanks, cargo etc?  :rolleyes:

But I was never wrong, and certainly not very wrong. I might perhaps maybe, for the sake of argument, agree that there was a misunderstanding if that brings closure ^_^

Note to self: never fly diagonally across the globe, you might fall off the plane :lol:

Lots of addons that rely on Acceleration features will still not work, unless P3D has bought that source code from MS. A2A Simulations and Milviz are some of the devs that use ACC features for many of their aircraft.

A2A has confirmed they are developing for P3D as well so yea...their stuff will work

Hope so. Accufeel would be a great addition to P3D!

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

PMDG have their stuff from boeing ( they maybe have an agreement ) so for PMDG to go to P3D . Boeing have to approve

Worst thing is PMDG said nothing maybe they should let us know why (beside the EULA) we all know that.

But why iris is developing the F22 >< It wun be that realistic but from the looks of it http://www.prepar3d.com/news/2013/11/4648/ its amazing. P3D is still supporting them ( Aerosoft and other developer as well )

Its like now a Semi Entertainment
