Prepar3D v 2.0 will come out in November

I came across this from WBard in the Prepar3D forums:

the minimum requirements are firm. v2 needs Windows7 or above, it will not run on Vista.

Hi, I have a couple of questions about the Developer's version. Can someone please clarify what exactly that is? Is it the full version plus SDK? Does it have any limitations compared to the full version? Is it in C++?

Thanks!

It is a special license that allows two installations.  That's it.  It is for use in developing products for/based on Prepar3D.

The SDK is available for free from their web site, at least it is for version 1.4.  I suspect that will be their approach for version 2.0 as well.

1) With this version will be necessary to tune the cfg like in FSX? Or no?

2) Are the graphic engine updated to use the GPU too?

3) Are the FDE improved?

4) There are a list of compatible FSX addons?

Thanks

1) No

2) Yes

3) No

4) Go check with individual devs, there's no global "Master List"

1. We all hope our tweaking days are over. It seems most if not all cfg tweaks won't even work with P3D! However, there are a LOT more in game options so instead of tweaking the cfg, you will have to spend some time 'tweaking' the in game settings.  ^_^

2. Yes, you bet!!! That's what this new version is (almost) all about! The better your GPU, the better your performance (or the more settings you can turn on)!

3. No, that's up to developers of add-on planes

4. Not really. Most things work but some don't (or aren't allowed to be used in P3D).

EDIT

Aamir was faster. And more brief too LOL

Thanks for the responses!!! I think I have hardware to run it at max settings...

And a couple more...

The base and most important addons like REX, PFPX, Airbus Extended, PMDG, etc will run?

Now I have FSX installed and I'm thinking about make a new installation with Windows 8.1 and use the FSX dedicated SSD to install P3D...

PFPX: Yes, this is an external program.

PMDG: No.

Airbus Extended: Planned.*

REX: Planned.

*Probably able to run it in V2, just not officially. Official support is planned, I believe.

Hi everyone.

Just curious about the OS. Is there any documented +'s  for using Win8 as it pertains to p3d?

I think that if it just run flawless with win8 will be a win.

I would agree with that, but I am just interested to hear from any of the beta team,  who have experienced an improvement in p3d in any way on either of the 2 versions of Windows.

Any word regarding AI aspects in P3Dv2.0? Are AI behavior and other related things the same as with FSX? Backward support for old FS9.1 models?

Thanks

I'd be very interested in the answer as well, as my new gaming PC is running on Win 8.1

Some games actually run better on Win8 than Win7 (like Battlefield 4), but others run a bit worse. I read HERE that AMD systems actually gain up to a 9.5% performance increase on Win8.1.

If a future P3D update adds DX11.2 features, like ‘Tiled Resources’, you'll only get these features if you're using Win 8.1.

Sounds like a very good question to ask the LM rep in the questions forum.
