How do you load payload into Q400 from PFPX?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not sure if this was previously covered, but I couldn't find it.

Basically for the PFPX users who uses it for the Q400, how do you load in the correct payload (ZFW I guess) and fuel figures?  Do you do it through FSX aircraft weights panel?  Or do it through MJC's Control Panel?

Given what's presented in PFPX on the dispatch papers, I can't really find an easy way to load the figures into the control panel.  Not like other aircraft, there isn't one (that I can see) field that simply allows me to input the amount of "ZFW" I want to enter, thus I have to work out how many pax there are and fwd/aft cargo I need to load to get the correct ZFW.

It's not undoable, just a lot of work just to do that, thus it kind of puts me off flying it because I can spend up to 10 minutes or more trying to figure out what numbers I need in different boxes.

If you do it differently or have better ways, please let me know, I'd be keen to learn how other pilots may be doing this.

Cheers,

Brendan Chen

Learning to use and getting use to FSX!

Well, if you like to, set PFPX to always use the same value for the payload, so you can always hack in the same numbers and just take care of the fuel. If you pick an intermediate setting, you shouldn't have to expect any CG related problems. Means more safe flying for you.

I usually go with just placing the pax, then perform the CG correction with the cargo and then tweaking the overall ZFM by adding/reducing the pax load on each end. So If I need more weight, I add a passenger in the front and in the back if the CG had been ok already. So you don't mix up much on that end. Doesn't take that long and on through flights, I just leave the payload like it was.
