I have a GTX680 and I'm getting 40fps no problems with everything maxed but I've disabled shadows. In heavy clouds the FPS drop to 20fps. Very happy with the performance, just waiting for the temp fix for the weather so I can actually put in a actual flight.

680 is a sweet card. Thanks for telling me that so now I know a 660 will have a substantialy lower performance than what you are working with

I thought the same but now I can't do without those shadows... They ARE important!

If I keep them switched off from the start, I will not know what I am missing

would love to see people's video card memory usage using GPU-Z. I had heard someone was getting 3GB of usage. I am wondering on a 6GB Titan how much P3D 2.0 is using?

I haven't hit 3GB yet, but I'm close at 2.6GB with just P3Dv2 and NO add-ons at all, just cranking up everything to max and lots of clouds with rain.  But I could easily imagine over 3GB usage with some nice add-on's like REX, FSDT, FSGRW, GSX, FTX Global, etc.

Here's mem usage when I toss everything no add-ons:

Personally, I think this is great news, it means our GPUs are actually being used now and the more GPU memory, the better - it's not being wasted like it is in FSX.

Thanks very enlightening. And you think that P3D can use the whole 6 Gb VRAM, no addressing limitation ?

Hi guys i checked how much vram is used on a 660ti. Tha Gpu was 99% and the vram was  1.8 GB. I asume that if you have a 2 GB card nearly all vram is used and on a 3 GB card it would be the same nad so on. Im goin to get a 780ti today so if anything goes right i can give you an answer tonight.

Just upgraded from SLI 570's to a single GTX 770 on my existing 2500k system @ 4.5ghz.

All-in-all, happy with the upgrade. The card itself is quite nice. Runs very cool under load (haven't seen it go above 57c yet), and there's some very neat little config utilities such as monitoring tools and a 1-click overclock.

In the default F22 situation, I can buzz over the city at around 30fps with everything cranked and all shadows ticked. I'll probably back off the shadows to give myself headroom. Maybe buildings/trees will stay on. We'll see. I'll need to load up some Orbx scenery and see what happens.

I popped into FSX a bit yesterday, and the difference is really night and day when it comes to smoothness, texture loading, and the appearance of autogen. I really don't know if I can go back at this stage. My irritating joystick disconnects will hopefully get solved withe registered version of FSUIPC (just purchased).

I imagine the new card will also serve me well for other games and sims. Perhaps I'll try cranking up the pretties in Rise of Flight.

Maybe buildings/trees will stay on.

Take note that you will also have to keep Terrain Receive on in that case!

BTW I am happy to see that going from GTX570 SLI to a single GTX770 gives a noticable effect! When you say "everything cranked and all shadows ticked" do you really mean EVERYTHING? Graphics, AI, weather, etc, all full right and ticked on?

I was mostly referring to graphical features, but I went back in and did a test with everything enabled. Full AI. Full traffic. Water ultra and all reflections. Full weather, etc.

It's about 25fps sitting on the ground in the default F22 situation, 35fps on the runway roll, and varies between 20 and 30 in the air buzzing over the city. Pretty respectable, I think. Highest card temp was 57C. Highest VRAM memory usage was 2039, which tells me that the 4GB on the card is perhaps a bit of overkill for my resolution (1920x1200).

Despite the decent fps, though, it doesn't feel as smooth as I would like. Panning the view is slightly sluggish. I don't think I'd want to run with everything cranked to that level.

I'm running 2 video cards and 3 monitors, with "mystery" 737 at locked 20fps smooth.

#1 is 6600Ti driving a 42" TV at 1680 x 1050

#2 is 4600GTX driving a 19" at 1280x1024 and a 17" at 1024x768

Shadows all off, sliders at 3/4, traffic at 49%

If you run multiple monitors and/or single 4K monitor, then you'll probably want more than 3GB VRAM ... I don't know what the limit is in terms of VAS to VRAM usage, haven't hit it yet, but I'm only using a single monitor 2560 x 1600.

But as always (with any game or simulation), the more visuals you want the more VRAM you're going to use and the more powerful GPU you'll need.  I think it's important to understand that we now at least have the option - it's unfortunate that a Titan cost about $1000 but it does deliver in P3Dv2.  But if you're on a budget the AMD 7990 is $400-$500 less than the Titan and offers 6GB VRAM also.

P3Dv2.1 might included SLi/Crossfire support (as in beneficial not superficial) which will open the door for the medium budget market that wants to turn up the visuals.

My hunch on those having stutters or performance issues are probably having to use system RAM as their VRAM is getting consumed (system RAM is MUCH slower) - especially if you are seeing high GPU utilization.  Here is the System Info for the Titan, note Memory:

Cheers, Rob.

These are the settings I'm using to get rock solid 30 fps (as you can see locked at 30 fps) - combine the settings screenshots into a single list here:
