RealAir Duke v2 - Yay or Nay?

I don't really use P3Dv2 at this stage, but the most important thing is as you already must know is that LM will work on it for years to come.

I personally prefer fsx atm but P3Dv2 is the future so the faster you port over your aircraft the faster people like myself will use P3Dv2 more and more.

I only fly

There are some internal sounds missing David, even with the Estonia Migration Tool installation.  I believe all of the 'standard' sounds that come from the sound.cfg are there, but I think some XML based sounds aren't playing.

OK thank you

I have that problem too.

Same here.

It's not a EULA or commercial license problem merging this aircraft into P3DV2?

The FS Estonia Migration Tool is so crazily easy to use, effective, and cheap that it really amazes me how many people aren't using it, and are instead trying all sorts of ways of manually installing FSX add-ons.

Dave, do you happen to know if I have installed an add-on into V2 using EMT for V2, and the same add on was already installed in FSX, can I then uninstalled the add-on in V2 using the Windows uninstall routine accessible thru the Windows Control Panel, w/o having detrimental effects in the FSX installation of that add-on?

Duke V2 works great in P3Dv2. Installed with migration tool V2.2.1.639. Changed Gear contact points in aircraft.cfg file as mentioned by awf above. Works perfect @ 27fps. Some of the sounds missing such as switches, gear retraction.

msg to RealAir: this aircraft is amazing.. please speed up migration to P3D:)))

I've been using the Duke V2 for a while now in P3D V2.2, but severely missed the gear and flap sounds. After a bit of fiddling, I've got them to work now. For those interested, here's how to:

First, locate the Realair Duke B60 V2 folder in the simobjects/aircraft directory. Open it and make a backup of the entire "sounds" folder.

Now open the (original) sounds folder and open the sound.cfg.

Locate the [GEAR_DOWN] entry. Delete the line "maximum_volume=0". Do the same for [GEAR_UP].

Just below that is [FLAPS]. Here, change the number for maximum_volume to a high value, such as 10000.

Now save and close the .cfg file.

As a last step you need to replace the sound file for the flaps, as the default one is empty when you play it. Delete the old Duke_flap.wav in the sounds folder. Now copy the flap sound file from another aircraft (for example, the default Baron 58 baron_flaps.wav) into the Duke V2 sounds folder, and rename it to Duke_flap.wav.

Now you should have working flap and gear sounds in P3D V2. Unfortunately I've not managed to get the switches sounds to work but oh well... We 'll just have to live without those.

In any case, I certainly would not want to miss the Duke in P3D. It's nothing short of amazing and one of the very best sim aircraft available. Only A2A's offerings come close, in my opinion anyway.
