Wondering how many fly their 777 in real time

It is interesting to read all your different situations and experiences, from what you are saying, I take it this rendition by PMDG is pretty good, but we are used to their skill and craftsmanship, aren't we? I have not bought it, yet, I like to mimic the reality as much as I can, flying real routes, I could not see myself using any time compression, especially since I only fly on line, just wondering how I can manage those long hours...

By the way, to all our US members out there, a very happy Thanksgiving!

Almost never use it. I've tried it out and man, quite a feat for PMDG. Sadly I don't use it much.

I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.

I like flying real time with any of my planes. And with the 77L, I'll either start a long one before going to bed, or before going to work. It's not that great to admit that I basically take off and land, but that's really all the action you're gonna get flying commercial.

And for the others who go long haul, how do you keep your "pilot response" message from coming on? It lights up about every hour until I clear the FMC.

By using the FMC to see what the wind component for each waypoint and checking fuel etc this stops the messages as you have been physically there using FMC etc

My VA doesnt want us to use the timecompression so i havent touched it.

Kind regards

No time compression here either.   I only used it when I had a 478 P4 processor and FS9 and the system used to overheat continuously and I saved every half hour so if it bombed out, I would reload and simply accelerate time to where I was before I bombed out.   That is the only time I ever use acceleration.

Like all the others, I do lots of things in between.

Kind regards.

I have been flying since at least FS98 and have never used the time compression option.

I came here to post exactly this but you already have, so thanks !

Never since the first FS (since the era of sublogic) on a computer system, always fly real time.......baby.

I think it's great that you guys enjoy for flying real time.

For me however, I use time compression whenever I can. Why? With my time being quite limited these days, I feel the compression function allows me to enjoy the T7 while seeing new parts of the FSX world I've never considered. It's quite refreshing to start flying international routes in FSX without worrying which of my few days off I have to give up for it. I'm considering WSSS to KEWR as well as VHHX to KEWR. Neither would have (or is) a consideration without the T7.

I'm glad we all get to enjoy the plane in our own ways. For me, time compression (built in) has to be one of the most useful and innovative things I've experienced in an addon aircraft.

Gary,

You certainly should continue to use the simulation and it's features in whatever way meets your needs.

Anyone that says different can talk a long walk

I have a dedicated machine for gaming/simming so for me it's not a big deal to let it run, until whenever I get back to land it.

I think a good bit of my aversion to TC may be psychological, after years of being slapped on the hand for even looking at it by addon devs of years past

Brian Doney

I don't use TC, but I don't fly for more than a couple of hours either. Even if you want to stick to real world routes there's plenty of 1-3 hour flights in the T7. To keep occupied during cruise I post to fora (like now!), mainly Avsim and my VA. I also do some chores around the house that keep me near the computer. I always shower before bed-time, occasionally I might do that before TOD, then land and go to bed.

I fly it in real time often in sync with the real flight.

Real Time Only...

Currently on final leg of around the world tour... Ontario, London, Singapore, Guam, Noumea, Honolulu and back to Ontario. All real time, one leg per day, all at actual utc times.  Flying 777F in UPS colors (even though UPS doesn't fly 777's).

I work from home, so once aircraft is level flight at cruise altitude, I swivel around to my work computer and work continually monitoring the flight.

Use AS2012 for weather and in the South Pacific ran into major thunderstorms that had the outside view model flapping its wings like a seagull, as well as bouncing off the bulkheads around the cockpit until through the storm.  Landing in Singapore was IMC all the way down to 2000 AGL and even though I had dialed in 165 for speed, aircraft didn't want to go slower than 195 to 200 in the turbulence... final was a hoot with gusting winds and carrying excess speed had me halfway down the runway before the concrete spun the wheels.

Currently an hour and a half before landing in Ontario and the turkey will be ready two hours after that...

Happy Thanksgiving to all...

I don't TC anymore. I used TC on my first flights only, and when I did SIN-EWR. I also *enjoy* the longhoul time feeling. I usually study, watch TV or even go out as everybody. Rarely minimize and do other stuff.

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure they are not on the -200LR anyway. Honestly, I'm a bit tired of it's powerful performance. Imagine that, that's why I want the -200/300 ER versions already to have a more realistic routes and limitations.

I tried this once weeks ago, it was fun. I heard AMX001 take off on liveatc.net ten or so minutes before me. When I heard the takeoff clearance I was beginning to taxi and tried to hurry up but there were a couple of RJ's in line already and planes landing on my runway
