Simple solution for shadows and loss of fps (Or: The tweaking has begun!)

I assume this does not fix the reversed shadow issue that you reported also?

It was someone else who reported that: I didn't have that problem yet. Or better said, I haven't noticed it up to now.

Tried it... Like it. On my system, I've not noticed any impact on FPS but I don't see those wobbly shadows that were so evident on buildings and so annoying. I only have shadows at medium as I can only push things so far. I've done a couple of videos and still waiting for them to upload. In all, a good discovery Jeroen :)

Good to know it works for you too! :) And yes, that's the main reason for using this tweak, to not see the obvious edge of the shadows nearby!

O, btw, important notice: if you previously saved your settings in the settings screen, you may have to edit that file too because those shadow entries are also in there! I discovered this because after trying a few things I loaded my default setting again and suddenly saw the shadow edge up close...!!! Big shock! Really awful! So glad LM gave us these options to tweak! So don't forget to edit your saved setting cfg too.

I ran across this thread today after finding about SHADOW_LOG_PARTITION.  Seems this variable defaults to 0.85.  It can have a value between 0 and 1.  Quoting from the P3d forum...

The value ranges from 0 to 1 where 1 puts most precision near the camera and 0 puts most precision in the distance. The value will be set to 1 when you are on the ground and then interpolate its way to the value in the cfg file based on altitude.

I had a lot of flickering shadows nearby so I upped it to 0.95 and then 0.98.  (I use mid shadows.)   Shadows look better...more solid... nearby and, honestly, I don't care much from a distance.  I haven't seen any framerate downside.
