Old navdata on new purchase?

Recommended Posts

I invested not quite EUR 5 into a current navigraph cycle, about the time the T7 was released. So, right now, I have pretty consistent data (SID/STAR etc.) for basically all my aircraft and including the SID/STAR database of VoxATC.

Should I ever feel the need to update again (in 6 months, one year or, maybe, two years), I'll spend another EUR 5 for a complete update again.

I'm wondering how much that navigraph discount arranged by PMDG should be?!?

And I'm also wondering how a, say, 20% discount (that's just one single EUR!!!) should make people buy more PMDG planes, with the T7 priced at EUR 70 (roundabout) alone?!?

Was just an idea, and a Year subscription costs about 25 if i remember right? So 20% would be 5€ discount, aint worth it for some but some People would be happy with it. But anyway i dont wanted to start a general discussion ;)

David its good you disagree, thats your right. Its also my right to voice my opinion on a product that I pay for. If PMDG, had an agreement with Navigraph to offer its customers a discounted price on updating the navdata imagine how many more customers PMDG would have. And as far as how long I've been around the "flight sim scene" try all the way back before FS was even released. I've been simming since the 5.25" floppy days. Remember you guys are the ones who said giving stuff away, not I. Where in any post did I say give the navdata away for free? B/c no where in the posts I have made does that appear.

You didn't say so in so many words, but in your initial post, you were complaining that you would have to spend additional money (on top of the base 777) to bring the navdata up-to-date. If PMDG DID provide navdata current as of the date of purchase on each 777 sold, they would have to charge more for the base package to compensate navigraph.

Either way, you are going to have to pay more if you really want your nav data to be up-to-date.

The idea of having a Navigraph discount for PMDG is good, but I don't think that either Navigraph's or Aerosoft's business model is set up that way. (To offer downloads for only one specific add-on). Both vendors permit users to download databases for dozens of different add-ons during each monthly cycle, for a single per-cycle charge.

If my original post came across that way, then apologies. That was not what I was trying to get across. But I think we covered the gist of it. I just wasn't prepared to spend the extra money. I truly luv all of PMDG's a/c, own all of them. When the FMC poped up the navdata msg, I was thinking something was wrong, I don't expect PMDG to rewrite their codes for one customer, but maybe the idea of a partnership with Navigraph is something they would consider. Or maybe when u purchase the a/c there is an option to also purchase an updated navdata file at the same time. Just a thought.

PMDG should put on the product site for the 777, that it comes with an out dated navdata set

Does PMDG actually state it comes with navdata?

Every PMDG plane has navdata included. The T7 has the most recent cycle of all PMDG planes. And this T7 cycle automatically "updates" the other PMDG planes' navdata (it's a shared database).

This discussion should have come up years ago. And you should take the discussion to the other developers' places also: The latest free navdata provided by Feelthere is from June 2010.   :LMAO:
