Hmmmm, since you are changing monitor settings, I don't think we can see what you see and what you are excited about…? But yes, changing the settings has a big influence on what you see in the sim. I have been using non-default settings for years already and I changed them a little for P3D because it's a bit darker.

This. Everyone just sees those screenshots according to their monitor properties and settings. They don't affect in any way how the simulator (or any other software for that matter) draws the graphics.

Changing your screen settings is global. It would be fine if you could have different profiles for each piece of software you run on your PC.

Yes it would be great to have different profiles for different software.

The point here is if you use the above when your sim is in full window mode, it's amazing how different you can make the sim look.

Gamma can make a huge difference. I only use the option before I fly fsx or p3d.

Setting will be to the person looking own taste. For me in both sims it stops the wasted over look.

Not only taste but also the monitor makes a difference: if I'd use your settings everything would be a washed out grey mesh on my monitor LOL. I have both Brightness and Contrast at 45 and Gamma at 85. But… I also of course have specific settings on the monitor itself, which makes another huge difference! I have a Samsung monitor which has various presets and they also make a world of difference. You have to combine both to get the graphics you like.

BTW I noticed whatever I like changes every now and then. For a while I liked my monitors Dynamic contrast setting but after a while I got very tired of it. I also have some sort of automatic color something (forgot the name it has) which looks nice for a while but after half an hour your eyes get very tired of the flashy colors. So I settled for a rather realistic (imho) and hence quite dull setting.  ^_^

Anyway, it sure is worth fooling around with these settings!

Yes mate it's amazing how monitors change, I have a 24" Samsung set below my best monitor, it's a 9000 27" Samsung cost a lot around £450. The difference between the two is unbelievable. The 27" is so bright and clear it has to be seen and even then can only be really seen in it full glory if I drag an open page over the two 1/2 and 1/2.
