Compatibility VictoriaPlusV7 with ORBX FTX NA

Recommended Posts

I noticed that some airports in ORBX FTX NA, i.e.Orcas Island and Friday Harbor, are also included in VictoriaPlusV7 by Don Grovestine.   Is this a serious issue and/or is there a workaround?

Thanks for your help!

It is not a problem as VictoriaPlusv7 scenery sits below FTX/Orbx stuff in the Scenery Library.  FTX/Orbx stuff is always on top of the Scenery Library.  So KORS, KFHR, etc. will trump out anything VictoriaPlus has installed.  Now, if there was a problem they would tell you to run that insertion program but, in this case, you leave VictoriaPlus way down below any FSX/Orbx stuff.

Best regards,

Jim

I tried running VictoriaPlus7 below the FTX/Orbx stuff in the scenery library but I lost a lot of the Victoria Harbor waterfront stuff.  The docks and sailboats and float planes were the there, but the buildings were missing.  Without those it's a disappointment.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I placed a subset of Vicplus above PNW, that gave me the harbor and yyj buildings only.

What subset?  Is a subset available or explained somewhere?  Actually all I want is the harbor.  I would expect some files in Orbx PNW would have to be backed up.  Do they?

No.  Perhaps this link will help you - http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/17119-victoria-compatibility-with-ftx-pnw/page-2.  This link might help too - http://www.jonpatch.ca/flightsim/.  It is extremely difficult to make this scenery work with Orbx PNW so that is why they have so many instructions/links across the Internet to try to make it simple for everyone.  I see reading these links my installation is wrong but then I'm not having any problems whatsoever with CYYJ sitting below PNW. I haven't tried the city of Victoria yet.

I appreciate the effort Jim but I cannot open the link because I have been banned from the Orbx Community forum.  I can get limited access to support, but that's it.

Thanks anyway...

The easiest way to go about this would be to enable the VicPlus Higher Priority folder only.

Then in the scenery folder inside the VicPlus Higher Priority folder, leave only the remaining files:

Thank you so much Mike.  That worked.  Victoria harbor has been a favorite place to park my floats; a Porter in FS9 and a Kodiak in FSX until I started collecting Orbx sceneries and it didn't work anymore.

Thanks again.

Thanks for everyone's input!

My understanding is that I should have one folder called vicplus higher priority with only the suggested scenery files, correct? Should this folder be above or below Orbx PNW? If I still want Victoria International CYYJ I have to install that separately, correct?

Thanks for your help?

In the VicPlus Higher Priority folder you should have both a scenery folder with only the suggested scenery files as well as an unaltered texture folder.

You can either install CYYJ to the VicPlus Higher Priority folder structure or to its own folder setup. Make sure that VicPlus is placed above Orbx PNW and if you have CYYJ separate, then have it above both VicPlus and Orbx PNW.

OK, I have this new Vic+v8 in a temp folder, now what do I to install, there seems to be so many vaiables, so does it override the earlier Vic+ or is it to go over the OEBX files.........there does not seem to be any info in the ORBX forums to explain the install process, (or maybe I just did not read correctly).......and is this a free patch?  or do we buy a new program................any help will be greatly appreciated............thanks, B42L8
