I know you think that, but the way I see, instead of the same 3 or 4 people showing up in every other 'List' query doing drive-bys, now they actually have to contribute something to the discussion or butt out.  I never felt that the popularity of a statement was necessarily the best indicator of truth,reality, or merit, and that is what we seek here, right?   I applaud their decision to ditch it.

I am tired of the whole subject, and yes, because of skin surface sensibilities, it is now a joke. I will be removing it entirely and we'll stay way from any future rating system or such.

 

Surely it's worth a vote Tom? A simple poll .... YES or NO. Don't buy into peoples reasons why or why not, but let the majority decide. If the minority do not agree, they either accept it or move on. That is the way the democracy works is it not?  :Nail Biting:

I liked the ratings system.. I got some bad ratings,  but I also could put myself in someone elses shoes and realize..  I know this is a crazy thought to have..  That..  I'm not always right.  :lol: Despite the many differences of opinion here we usually (usually) all manage to come full circle and at least agree to disgree most times.

 

 

t's obvious though some abused the system a bit. Maybe put a quota in place.. 6 months as a member, or 100 posts, whatever comes first before a user can vote on posts.

This is not the least bit funny... Something more serious and simple like, 'Like' or 'Disagree' are valid options. We already had the joke titles, people just need to quite wearing their feelings on their sleeves mad because people don't agree with them all the time (or ever in some cases).

I don't see what all the fuss is about. Those who attach weight to click-votes can do so, and let those who attach no weight to them are free to decline to vote themselves and to disregard the votes of others and instead concentrate on actual content. Something for everyone...

 

I recommend the attitude of Christopher Plummer in Waterloo, "I do not intend to run around like a wet hen!"   :smile:  Whatever system we end up with after the vote, let's just stick to it, warts and all.
