Brad Pitt Purchased a Spitfire

Recommended Posts

Just because he can - ENVIOUS!

"Brad, who has done everything from sleep in the trenches to learn to drive a tank for [his new war drama Fury], has now invested in one of the iconic machines."

The 49-year-old actor is already a qualified pilot but will reportedly receive lessons on how to safely manage the vintage aircraft, which was popularly used by the RAF and other allied forces during the Second World War, at the Boultbee Flying Academy in Oxford.

A spokesman for the academy said: "We don't comment on who we teach, but we have high-profile people. Buying Spitfires is very popular with wealthy individuals."

Gotta admit - pretty bad-assed.

I am curious which one he purchased. Not many of them left and two that are currently flight worthy were flown by my GrandPaw.

I am always checking for where those two aircraft get moved around to.

AE-H EN 767 - Which I believe went back to Rolls Royce collection

AE-H EN 910 - Which I believe is part of the Britain Memorial Flight collection

Well I guess he has the money to look after it. Very powerful engined aircraft; they are (by all accounts) tricky to fly, or even to get off the ground without tipping over, so he'll need those lessons. Good luck to him though.

I recall watching a documentary about the Battle of Britain (2010) featuring Ewan MacGregor and his brother Colin, an ex-RAF pilot. Colin was going to fly the 2 seat Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Collection, and went there for training.

I wonder if Mr. Pitt is going there for his Spitfire training regime?

Cliff Robertson owned a Spitfire and I got to see it on the ground and airborne at the Reading Air Show. Of course,  that was LONG ago.....probably 1970 or so.
