Hi Brian,

Thanks but I can't access the thread as I am not registered within them. I tried to register but they are asking for a order or licence key number?!

Ronnie

You can register there and use your trial key number when registering.

I've followed all of the suggested fixes (including the FSUIPC wind-smoothing option) and still get an occasional 'ambient weather' crash. I'm hopeful HiFi gets this ironed out soon. At the very least, trap the error so that when ASN 'hiccups' it doesn't cause FSX to crash.

Next time I get this error, I'll be opening a support ticket with all the relevant info.

Hi,

the "cannot control ambient weather"  message is the result of an fsx crash (whatever the initial reason may have been), as ASN detects it can't control the weather. It doesn't necessarily mean it's ASN that caused the crash.

Having said that, obviously we're investigating and working towards a solution to the freezes and crashes some of you have and the extend of ASN involvement in this. But, as I said, not all fsx crashes are due to ASN (even though you'll see this message coming up in all of these cases). Hope this is clear.

Hi!

I installed FSUIPC but FSX still freezes. Sometimes after a couple of hours, sometimes after as long 9-10 hours of flight. When it freezes I can still hear the sound but can't do anything else. I haven't enabled anything in FSUIPC as many says it's that that causes the freeze. When running AS 2012 I never have problems.

VERY FRUSTRATING

I own the trial version and this happens 10 seconds after entering 'free flight'. I just installed the latest unregistered version of FSUIPC ( No wind smoothing option there) and I made it so that my anti-virus programs can't engage with those dlls, and the folder. My UAC is disabled and so is windows defender. I also have the update.

What more is there to do?   I have some cloud textures enables (freeware) should I disable them?

If I have missed something then please tell me....

EDIT: Forgot to run FSX as admin.    I ran as admin and flew with the default trike at ESGG for about 10 minutes, it worked like a charm...almost (Won't fly into big & nasty clouds with a trike anymore)  :P

the "cannot control ambient weather" message is the result of an fsx crash (whatever the initial reason may have been), as ASN detects it can't control the weather. It doesn't necessarily mean it's ASN that caused the crash.

I can see what is happening now and totally agree with this statement.  The error message is confusing though in that it indicates there is something wrong with rights/ownership and/or trusted/excluded ASN from security software and maybe that's not the issue at all.  Then, when you do make sure you have the proper rights/ownership of ASN and the crashes continue, it begins to get a little frustrating.  I also went into my firewall and specifically allowed Active Sky Next to communicate.  That appeared to solve my issue totally until I started getting a freeze/lockup 100% of the time with ASN enabled again.  Here's what I did to fix my problem and I hope it helps others:

I tried the same flight with ASN not enabled but enabled real weather in the FSX setup.  Freeze/lockup occurred exactly where it occurred with ASN enabled.

Tried the same flight with ASN not enabled or real weather (no weather).  Freeze/lockup occurred exactly where it occurred before.  So, ASN and real weather was ruled out as the problem.

I ran the program AppCrashView (see the AVSIM CTD Guide for info/links) and it showed I had a BEX/StackHash_7333 CTD (see my crash report below).  In all of the crash reports there was one thing in common and that was the last module to load before the freeze/lockup/CTD....  was AES.

LoadedModule[251]=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Aerosoft\AES\ViMaCli.dll

I then went into the dll.xml and changed the following:

    <Name>VistaMare Core</Name>

<Disabled>True</Disabled>           This line I changed from False to True so it would not load

    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>

    <Path>VistaMare\ViMaCoreX.dll</Path>

Success!!  On the same flight no CTD and I was able to get to my destination.  In mid-flight, I reenabled ASN and still no crash.  So far this has fixed my problem.  I think I'm going to have to add AES to my firewall too but that's another issue.  Here is my AppCrashView report:

EDIT:  Change 1.  Forgot I had the addon Airport Wizard and had disabled that in the dll.xml too.  Well, after writing this dissertation, I reenabled it and the sudden lockup/freeze occurred again.  Disabled it and no freeze/lockup.  Might not be AES.  In any case, I think the problem can be found in the modules added in the dll.xml.  Disable them and add them back one at a time will probably find the culprit.

Best regards,

I have installed ASN and I'm occasionally getting this error, usually after I come out of FSX, I think kterz might be right (in my case), that the error report pops up after I crash the plane or FSX freezes due to something else I've done. I'll keep an eye on this, I'm hoping that a simple explanation like this will stop me panicking about ASN. .

Hi,

the "cannot control ambient weather"  message is the result of an fsx crash (whatever the initial reason may have been), as ASN detects it can't control the weather.

An update to my problems after installing ASN...  It turned out not to be ASN.  I do not see a bug in this product.  My problem turned out to be the latest version of MyTrafficX 5.4c.  Disabled that and my problems went away.  It was found by another individual that there was a bad texture in one of the AI aircraft.  I removed 5.4c and reinstalled 5.4b and have not had a problem with ASN since then.  It's amazing the coincidence of installing ASN and the sudden crashes.  What threw me off was the error message ASN delivers whenever FSX crashes.

Best regards,

Best regards,

Hi Jim,

Great that you seem to have found the "issue". I too had the trial version last year and had many lock ups, so eventually gave up and thought i would wait a year or so to see if it gets resolved. Interesting you found MyTrafficX 5.4c the culprit. I recall having lock up issues with 5.4c after ASN removal and found it was the 2013 schedules with some bad textures in some areas. when i went back to 2012 schedule, locks ups stopped. I never did retry ASN again. Maybe time to have another go at trial of ASN and see how it works now. Not sure though if you can have multiple trials af ASN?

I appreciate when ASN say, that while their program indicates the issue, it may not be their program causing it, but finding that some dodgy code by other companies trips it up, and this is the last straw.

Regards

I have neither AES nor My Traffic and still have issue.

Frustrating when after 6 hours real time flight suddenly CTD ...

I think it is not so that only small group of users have this problem.

I think group is quite big, but many of us do not report it, until now when relevant post appeared.
