Unable to open add-on aircraft manuals

Can anyone help please?  I operate FSX  on a Chillblaster Superfortress and only recently started to purchase/download add-on aircraft!  to be specific... the Carenado Baron 58, and the Just Flight HS 146!  The aircraft download ok and and are flyable in the sim, but I cannot open any of the manuals! When I attempt to do so all I get is what appears to be raw programming lingo or hieroglyphics on Notepad. I would be grateful for any help. Thank you!

PDF XChange Viewer is even more comfortable, IMO (freeware as well). Only thing that bothers me is, you can't copy from it.
