Adding RMI

Recommended Posts

Miss the usefulness of the RMI.  Anyway to add the default FSX RMI (King Air or Baron) to replace the ADF gauge.  I experimented, but my prior experience is just swaping radio stacks.

Ok, information here leads me to believe that this 3D panel is not friendly to gauge adding.  However, can we change the way an original gauge behaves - where it gets its input from?

I would like to have the ADF gauge to behave like a RMI and therefore draw its input from one of the NAV radio.  It would be cool if both functionalities (RMI and ADF) could somehow be kept.

I have looked around the Panel folder and some Cab files, but I am coming up empty.

Frank,  I do not believe you can easily edit the 3d gauges... they are part of the 3d model.

Hi Bert,

Where is the code/command that controls where the gauge gets its input?  I understand that changing the gauge to another one is difficult, but how about making the ADF needle point to a VOR on NAV I or NAV II?  Thanks for your reply.

Frank,

The code is imbedded in the model.

If you go looking with a hex editor, you can find the code

and possibly modify it, but you better be accurate to the

character level, or it will not work...

Try it!   Just make a backup first!

Here a little test, making the ADF needle point to the NAV2 source... you still need to

turn the card by hand (unlike an RMI)

Two pieces:

An XML gauge running that calculates the NAV direction:

(A:NAV Radial:2, degree) 180 + (>L:NAV Radial 2, degree)

An edit in the model code to change the ADF source to the new L:variable:
