Need help with Oceanic procedures

Recommended Posts

So hello, this is my first post.

I have always known how to cross the Atlantic and stuff with NATs.  However, I do not understand pacific flying, at first i thought there would be pacific tracks - i searched and guess what? Nothing. So then i thought maybe the routes gave me the coordinates themselves however when i generated a route form KLAX to YMML, it took me through Russia.  So, what I'm asking is this, are there any pacific tracks? if so, then please link the website that you get them from.  If there are no pacific tracks, then please give me a guide on crossing the pacific.

Many Thanks.

Lewis.

Here is a route for QANTAS Airlines flight 94:

PRCH9 DINTY R576 DUETS 3100N 13200W 3000N 13600W 2600N 14600W DRAYK R576 WAPPO R576 OGG CARRP 1600N 16500W 1100N 17200W 0900N 17400W 0200N 18000E 0600S 17400E 1000S 17100E 1600S 16600E 2055S 16300E 2400S 16100E 3100S 15500E MARLN HOOKS Q15 WOL H65 RAZZI Q29 ML

You can punch that into a flight planner if it's database has all the waypoints.

Here is a link of that route in FlightAware:

There are PACOTS, but there are a lot of aircraft using random routes as well (to get around weather sometimes).

Our Japan flights for my company usually use this:

A5573/13 - (TDM TRK 8 131222070001 1312220700 1312222100

SEALS 36N150E 36N160E 37N170E 39N180E 40N170W 42N160W 43N150W 44N140W 43N130W MITOH FOT RTS/VACKY OTR13 SEALS FOT UPR KDFW RMK/0). 22 DEC 07:00 2013 UNTIL 22 DEC 21:00 2013. CREATED: 21 DEC 18:55 2013

They get updated each day:

https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov/PilotWeb/noticesAction.do?queryType=PACIFICTRACKS&formatType=ICAO

As far as the procedures go, only slightly different to Atlantic ops. You don't get an "oceanic clearance" at Gander before your first oceanic waypoint, you simply report your first point over HF (or CPDLC) until it's time to contact the next FIR (KZAK Oakland, to RJJJ Tokyo for example)

I dunno if we'd really be able to see something as organized as people getting a food stamp debit card from their local church though..
