What's your WORST Flightsim Payware of 2013?

Featured Replies

Just flight traffic 360. Thank GOD I bought it for just $7. Many models, but LOL at the AI sounds. It's like hearing a bunch of Saturn V boosters go off on takeoff. Lackluster models, honestly, I expected low res, but I got low res with models that don't resemble the real thing. I.e. The 767 looks like something imagined.

Captain-buggy-sim 72-glitch-7.

Beautiful model! If I could just complete a flight with it.

I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.

Make sure you explain why it's considered the worst or it will be removed.

Abacus A380, they charged you for a basic model and DEFUALT gauges and the only thing that was original was a basic overhead panel.

A<380 love at first flight

I'm happy, or I was happy for a time, with all my payware add ons of last year, otherwise I wouldn't have paid for them - yes some may now sit in the hanger but I bought them for a reason; sometimes those reasons get overridden by new add ons, that doesn't mean the others were bad.

I do research before I buy, except in the case of the Just Flight L-1011, but hey at $5 who cares, even then it's not bad. My research encompasses this site and others, I've never been a "buy on release" kind of simmer, except for the T7 that is. I'm just happy that people still find it worthwhile to develop for FSX which is, after all, and old sim.

I don't regret any of mine, if I had to pick, it would be the captain sim 757/767 but i got them at a 9.99euro sale.

PMDG spoiled me!

JustFlight Eurofighter Typhoon.

Not really happy it cost me £25. I hoped the service pack would improve it but it didn't. Really subpar for payware in 2013, especially when you consider Dino Cattaneo's freeware jets are better in almost every respect.

To be fair though, at the time I voiced my criticism here along with some others and I was contacted by JF and asked if I wished to test the service pack. I declined because I was on ship at the time and didn't have a reliable net connection or indeed the time.

JF did try to improve it, but to be perfectly honest the Eurofighter had absolutely no business being a £25 payware in 2013.

2- SkyMaxx Pro for Xplane10  (clouds look out of place and many issues with real weather...only REX can save XP10)

Now here's something interesting about your choice. SkyMAXX Pro is the first foray by its author into consumer software. Prior to this, Sundog Software only provided SDKs to developers. These SDKs allowed developers to add clouds, sky conditions (Silverlining) and water animations (Triton) to their 3D apps. And guess who used the water/wave SDK (Triton)? Yep, Lockheed Martin used it for the water displays in P3d2.

Aerosoft Mega Airport Rome (FS9)

I get horrible FPS with this add on and overall quality is below average, IMO.  There are better looking freeware out there.

It's already uninstalled and will probably never be installed again.

That's the only 2013 purchase I can think of that I regret buying.

Nature Boy

I can't say it is the "worst" by any definition, but since buying the Wilco TBM850 I have zero interest in flying the Carenado version. The Caranedo version is a pretty girl, but as soon as she begins to fly, blah.

All in all, quite happy with my purchases in 2013. Oh, I guess if I was going to be picky I could say the Lycoming sound set for the Iris Christen Eagle could be better...

Looking back, 2013 is my *first* year of flight simming. I purchased FSX with the Logitech Extreme Pro stick for my son last Christmas (2012), and he just said "meh". So I installed it anyway, took a short flight, and haven't spit out the hook yet!!! Purchased the Gold Edition (yes!), UTX (yes!), GEX (yes!), etc, etc, etc. Don't regret a single one of them, despite the fact I now fly P3D 1.4 only, run Orbx scenery only, and instead of a couple of hundred free-ware aircraft, have a hanger of diverse, but representative (biplane, float plane, twin, etc) GA payware aircraft that I love to take out and polish now and then.

About the only thing I really regret is that flying simulated aircraft makes me sit on my butt too much!!!

Kim Jong Un. Oh, wait, I thought it said "Worst Communist Dictator of 2013." But I'm still going with Kim Jong Un on this one. Picking at my own hobby just seems weird to me.

777 worldliner for x-plane 10...

the sounds are way way overdone.. flap motors and apu sounds like they are inside the cockpit.. It does not derate properly, many systems are kind of sort of simulated and do not work like the real thing.Nose gear light does not turn with the nosegear. Wish I could get my 80 dollars back....

My worst "Flightsim" payware of 2013 was the awesome goodliness that I didn't buy!

I love love!

Could probably come up with "Least Excellent" if pushed... but the real

WORST Flightsim Payware of 2013

would've been the stuff I bought that went on "Special" at 50% off the very next week!.

I don't know why many in this hobby have a hard time being critical of a add-on they paid for, The way I see it is that once  I open my wallet and pay for something if I did not fell that it was good then I have a right to inform others, and let them make a informed decision.
