Night Lighting Procedures (Cockpit)

Hello Simmers!

 

 

I have a question in regards to night lighting procedures in the cockpit, specifically in regards to the flood lights. As far as I know the dome lights are only used in storms or when parked at the gate, though I was wondering when the flood lights, both for the panel and the MCP, are used. In photos I've seen a mix, and as of yet I don't tend to use them at all as something about them doesn't look quite right in the settings being used, but I would rather put up with that for proper procedures than forget about them altogether. I've taken a look through the intro, FCOM and tutorial manuals to no real avail (perhaps I just haven't looked in the right places, or for the right things), and I would love to have clarification on the proper procedures.

That is generally correct. Some pilots think that a bright environment helps fight fatigue at night. So it depends on the individual crew.

That is completely at the crew's discretion. Turn them on if you want or keep them off.

That's because of different camera settings being used (something about the white balance or something...). The lights in the NGX were developed from the real lighting system on the NG.

Oh, yes, I know that they really do look like that, though they distract me in flight (in regards to the way that the light washes out certain displays). Nothing against their accuracy, just preference. Thanks for all of your help, by the way. It's really great to have insight into procedures like this.
