Hey John :-wave - this discussion (not just in this thread...) has gone on and on in most all of the flightsim related forums, and no one (hardly anyone) seems to recall that the developers have already announced that they are at work on the next version (whatever it may be called). We can say that a) there will be a next version, :( we don't know what it will be called, c) it will be out when it's released, d) some will love it and some will hate it, e) there will be lengthy discussions of its merits, demerits, and the probabable ancestory of the developers, f) it will cost us more money and time, g) we'll all buy it regardless!Kind of pointless to dwell on it right now, don't you think?Regards,DJ

>I wouldnt expect it to be a worldwide sim but maybe a limited>sim confined to the USA or Europe.>>PeterThanks Peter,I guess that would put paid our hopes for FS heaven down here in Oz then, cheers mate...Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australia

"Hey John :-wave - this discussion (not just in this thread...) has gone on and on in most all of the flightsim related forums, and no one (hardly anyone) seems to recall that the developers have already announced that they are at work on the next version (whatever it may be called)."I very well remember the comments Avsim posted from the conference and having been around the forums for many years, I need not be reminded of how many times this discussion has surfaced or how short memories are. I just don't see the point of:a) Everyone jumping in and saying "Oh yeah, I remember what Microsoft said":( Your flippant reply to the question asked considering it was only six minutes that transpired between the question and your reply.Market conditions change from month to month, and you don't know until it's set in stone whether a product is released in this business. So I'm certainly not dwelling on any of these questions, but I consider it a courtesy to respond since we have newcomers to the hobby all the time who don't know the pattern that follows each MSFS release. Discussion is what these forums are about. I only get impatient with the naysayers who say Microsoft's getting out of the hobby because of some celestial event, currency fluctuation in Zurich, or because their aunt heard from her hairdresser who heard from his cousin that his barber's buddy who commutes with a Microsoft janitor.... Ohhhh...I'm out of breath :)-John

My point was not the elapsed time, but the lapsed memories that cause these silly discussions. Flippancy in the face of foolishness is no vice...DJ

Short of total economic collapse . . . of course there will be another FS! Now mind you, if MS has to have a 95% East Indian programming crew to make it the cash cow it will most certainly be, they will. FS has lot's of room for improvement--especially with respect to tapping into advanced GPU capabilities. It will just get better. Good for the East Indians, and THIS generation of yank simmers, but yank kids will have it much tougher.Noel

I'd like it if MS held off for at least another year until they address the realistically achievable wish list items. As stated in other posts, this would slide in nicely to a 3 year computer upgrade cycle. In my opinion, I think the FS Dev team seems to lag behind other software companies when it comes to graphics and FX. This might give them time to catch up and even set a new benchmark.I think there will always be a FS20XX. In the MS gaming division, FS must be high up there in money generation if not the top.

DJ,Excactly! The only thing I would add is:h) there will be several threads discussing the possibility of the next release, which will generate as much hype about an unreleased product as the revenues MS will receive when the produtct is relased (see g) above).Happy New YearDave Vega
