ASN or REX?

Recommended Posts

Like to know  what your  referring  here,   suppose you forgot   they gave  a free update  from the old version of  rex2 to the new version rexe .

The update was in the deal before I bought it....that's why I bought it, so it wasn't FREE!

I'm talking about the RexE+ weather engine, not the textures, take a good look at their forum, allot of complains about overspending, crazy wind shifts, wrong: METAR's, winds aloft, airport weather,...etc. the forums don't lie, problems I had on EVRY SINGLE online flight! They promised to fix the Wx engine but they never did!

Instead they concentrated on other projects, when all the cash was in & the revenue was in & safe......yeah I'm not born yesterday....milking your customers like that is bad business & it will bite you in the "where the sun never shines". I'm done with REX!

I've got ASN & every flight is now as IRL :P

i'm not sure what all your criteria's are ... asn is a weather engine only with the huge benefit of historic weather in dynamic mode ... and you use any texture you want !!

wouldn't you like to at least fly real early morning 16 hour old daytime vfr weather north of vancouver when its a cold & bleak midnite at your sim in london ???

for now, cheers

Does anyone know how much the REX4 weather engine will cost?

I have taken the plunge. Just set up my first flight. Manual mode.

Yes, I'll be happy to have that option again. OpusFSX only offers historic weather for a day or two (last time I checked) which doesn't cut it for me. I need to be able to fly in the summer while it's actually winter.

Rex does a fantastic job with textures, especially in the latest Rex 4 release. In my opinion, I think they should concentrate on this area of proven expertise and competence, and forego further development of their weather injection engine. ASN has taken the art and science of weather injection to an entirely new level, and I have serious doubts that REX could ever match it. Better to concede the injection part of FSX weather to ASN, and instead concentrate on developing further enhancements to cloud and sky textures.

Even better, they should team up, drafting a contract that both will remain where they are (REX-texture, HifiSim-weather), and work together at making it work together even better than it does now. If that's even possible...

me too most of the time ..... i like to sim the skies of north america (more top class scenery, airports etc.) from my simpit in sydney and set up the same time of day & season as it is in sydney !!

besides, i would have thought most simmers need to use historic data just to get the "typical" weather for the time of day they have set up .. it is only if you fly "local skies" that you would use current weather.

That is why I love ASN. Just check the sim-time, and it will automatically pull the historical data for that time. No fuss, no extra setting. Just load your sim and the weather is correct for that moment in that part of the world.
