I'm new to this whole simulator thing, but I'm trying to set up the PMDG 737 NGX add-on for FSX on a new Windows 8.1 machine for my younger brother.

 

Everything installed just fine, and the aircraft can be controlled with our joystick (rudder, elevator and aileron etc), but when we try to use any of the controls inside the cockpit, or even raise the gear, the whole sim crashes.

 

Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong and how I can fix it?

Unfortunately, the NGX wasn't developed for, or tested on, Win 8.

Running some type of logger to find the source of the crash would really help to trace the issue, as it mentions.
