Also for downloaded Bremen ZL17 photoscenery, in the earth nav data folder, the files are identified as follows;

+53+008.dsf.ready                24,949 KB

+53+008_HD2.dsf.ready       24,949 KB

+53+008_POL.dsf                      213 KB

+53+008_SD.dsf.ready         15,802 KB

My question is, if the .ini file is correct in it's order, what else could cause the missing photoscenery? I'd like to attach my log file but there seems to be no provision for this.

Just a little side note ... why this ???

  • SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/zzz_hd_global_scenery2/
  • SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/zzz_Treelines_Farms_Europe_v2/

As I told just a few lines earlier: put base mesh at the bottom ... The way you have it makes sure, that "Treelines_Farms_Europe_v2" will never show up as it is below(!!!!) othe base mesh scenery.

And about your problem. It might be easily the problem with the content of your scenery folders (and NOT only the scenery_packs.ini).

The problem is: you need a DSF with the name +xx+yyy.dsf (this is the ONLY form in which XP10 recognizes them!!!) !!! All the others are just alternatives which can be "renamed" to this, so they become active. So, maybe just take the +53+008_HD2.dsf.ready and rename it to "+53+008.dsf". That might do the trick.

Thank you Andras, renaming the .dsf file worked. I'm wondering though why it was working previously though?

to take an example. in amsterdam the earth nav dates are

   a-52+004.dsf

   b-52+004HD2.dsf

   c-52+004 pol.dsf

   d-52+004 SD.dsf

does it mean that I have to rename 52+004HD2.dsf also to see the photoscenery for this part

No, from what I understand in the documentation at SimHeaven, you get photoscenery with each(!) of the DSFs ... they just hive you different approaches / quality levels ... And if I understood the docu correctly, then the "pre-selected" DSF i the same as the HD2 one (if they have the same file size, then they are identical).

Additionally paula, you could look up FAQs at simheaven.com:

http://simheaven.com/?page_id=338

and read all about "In photo sceneries there are different dsf files in the “Earth nav data” folder, what does it mean?" ;)

I have a download of Khania and in the Earth navdata folder the following three files are included;

+35+023.dsf.ready

+35+023_HD2.dsf.ready

+35+023_SD.dsf.ready

With all three files having the .ready extension, which one will be used?

None! Again, what did I write above?:

Why there is no "default" with the name +xx+yyy.dsf in the folder ... I don't know. Thats something only PilotBalu could answer. Maybe its some older ZIP file with some issues ...

Yesterday there was another user with the same problem having.ready dsf files.

I checked the Bremen ZL17 download and found all files are named correctly. So I wonder where this came from...

Where have you downloaded this Khania tile?

I got it from simheaven. Looking at other files I've downloaded from simheaven, many contain only .ready files. I have no idea what could have caused this. I didn't even look in these folders before having problems. Can G2XPL cause this type of overwriting? I tried to convert some Caribbean scenery that didn't turn out so well. Apart from that, I'm clueless here. World2Xplane maybe?

Not sure what's going on here. It would be nice to get a very simple GUI in X-Plane to move items up and down.

Also, I've noticed a few others placing the treeline scenery below the HD Mesh. This will not work and the HD Mesh will block the treelines. I'll update the FAQ shortly.

Yes, have seen that too ... but I really don't know what else to do if users DO NOT READ instructions (and this happens so often ... and results in so many support requests). I have put the information in bold letters on my website:

  • For X-Plane 10 Tree Lines and Farms V2 to work correctly with other Scenery Packages, its best to put the folders close to the bottom of scenery_packs.ini BUT above the HD Mesh Scenery V2 folder (or ANY other base mesh package, like photoscenery from Simheaven.de)!

Well, I think the real solution will be, when Laminar adds some primitive "auto priority" feature (there are existing plans, if not even working code). That way XP10 could make sure, that at least mesh scenery is always loaded at the bottom (below any other scenery which has no base mesh).

I've checked the files at the server, also downloaded Khania at normal way, there is NO xxx.dsf.ready file in it! All dsf files are named correctly.

xxx.dsf.ready files are normally generated while working with g2xpl, and also xxx.dsf.cached files. Or do you have a tool renaming (and thus disabling) the dsf files?

I also checked other files on my simheaven's server, no .dsf.ready at all... all files in earth nav data folder end up with .dsf, so they are working very well.
