It was a combination of the skills of the pilot, and the quick thinking of those DOT workers who stopped the traffic that prevented a disaster. I used to live in that area, and used that exit coming home from work (and other times) all the time. That highway always have heavy traffic on it. If those DOT workers weren't there there's a very high chance this wouldn't have had a happy ending.
