Latest Nvidia Drivers - Wow, I like This

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just did a clean install of Nvidia's latest drivers (332.21) and cleaned out P3Dv2's Scenery Cache. I LIKE what I'm seeing, This is a triple monitor setup at 5760x1200. 70FPS, but more importantly, Smooth as glass...

where did you get the driver?  The newest I can find is 331.93, and it is a beta driver.  EDIT**  I found it.  After I installed the .93 beta driver it prompted me to install the new driver.

At the moment if you do a manual search for this at nvidia's site only 331 drivers show up.

If you click the top 331 WHQL it goes through  to the 332.21 driver download page..

Hi,

With FPS and smoothness I'm seeing with these drivers, I could care less about release notes!. If release notes are all you are waiting for, good luck. While your waiting, I'm enjoying!.

Agree with your logic Mike! There are those that do and those that waits! Off to give them a try.

to paraphrase an OLD movie - " We don need no steenkin' notes!!"

Hi,

This is one of the very "FEW" times I've seen an improvement when updating my Nvidia drivers. So for me, it was a very nice surprise. This one is so good, I'm not touching and/or adding ANYTHING to P3Dv2 unless this performance boost stops one day. :Party: :drinks:  :Party:

I wonder what's going to happen once SLI is introduced and I get full use out of my GTX 690...

I can't wait for SLI support. I bought 2 EVGA GTX 770 4GB Classifieds for this very reason.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if SLI helps at all w/ already strong GPUs.  I say this because I can see situations where frame performance suffers, and yet only 60% GPU utilization w/ my Titan GTX.  Adding a 2nd Titan I can't see will help at all.  I think SLIing two lesser GPUs might improve, but as I say I'm not seeing how/where SLI will truly help w/ P3DV2.

Yep, this has been my experience.  Driver changes have rarely improved anything for either FSX or P3DV2 for me also.   This is why I mention specific targets in the release notes specifically for P3DV2 as this implies specific issues have been actively addressed by nVidia.  Plus, I already have ultra smooth performance.  Even so, it may be worth the upgrade and the only way to tell is to make the change.   I am aware LM is in contact w/ nV so again I hope to see some reference to P3D in future driver release notes.

Hi Noel,

I'm not sure if the Nvidia driver improvement I'm seeing has to do with DirectX11 and P3Dv2 (DX11 program) just happens to be along for the ride. I don't know, but.... I like what I'm seeing so far.

Like I said, I'm not touching anything. :lol:

Hi gboz,

Really can't complain about either. Here are my P3Dv2 Graphic Settings.

FXAA=ON

MSAA=4 Samples

Ansiotropic=16

Texture Resolution=2048x2048

Hardware Tessellation= Checked

Took this exterior shot, it's good enough for me.

FXAA=ON

Yikes, I can't tolerate the softness that FXAA generates for me.  I'm putting up w/ some jaggies but they are only visible in a few areas and I'm ok w/ trading that in for extreme sharpness that having FXAA disabled does on my screen.
