Rex4  is  a separate addon  texture program which will work side by side  with your  rexe /od, If you do decide on getting  rex4,    you  will still need to have  rexe installed since your still using  the rexe weather  engine.  Just a matter of  starting  rex4 select your textures  close rex4  than carrying on as normal start rexe  but  don't  install any textures  since you already have  by  rex4   start  your weather engine  as per normal and  away you go.  Good thing  about  rex4 is  the super fast loading of the  textures.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but Pete_auau 's answer has put some doubt in my mind and wonder if someone can clarify .

I currently have rexe/od but I use Opus for my weather engine , I am seriously considering buying rex4 textures,Can the textures be installed with no interaction required from rexe/od ?

thanks

No you don't need to buy both.

I would buy REX4 for textures

ASN for a weather engine.

or OPUS  is a very good weather engine.

ofc they can. REX4 is a stand alone product if it needed an older product to work REX would tell you.

Yes no need to open up rexe at all, the only  reason you need to open up rexe  is if  your still using the rexe weather  engine

For the weather engine, REX EssPlus+OD will do.

But for IVAO, any engine supporting real weather should do: either FSX real weather, REX EssPlus+OD (but NOT REX4!), Opus or ASN should be o.k.; for me it's ASN.

Rex4  is only  a texture addon ( not  a weather engine)

In my case iam using  asn  for  my weather  engine  and  rex4  as my textures  but  I have  also  got rexe  installed as well but  don't  use  the rexe weather  engine

REX 4 Texture Direct does NOT have a weather engine. It has the ability to select textures based on metar but no weather engine. REX Game studios are working on REX 4 Weather Direct which will be a separate program and solely a weather engine.

You can use whatever weather engine you want with REX 4 Texture Direct.

Rex +od od worth keeping since it has more options like rain look on runway and many others. They work together well You just have to choose what You need from each one in texture department
