Main advantage of FSX is actually a flaw

and i love testing the AI traffic (have ultimate traffic 2) it eats fps like ######,i testet it today in 3 airports when landing,in copenhagen with UT2 on i have 15-20 fps about 3 nm from the airport

with UT2 turned of well 25-30 fps the same in los angels from FSDT,so now i turn off UT2 about 5 nm from the airport im landing in,and then turn it on again after landing.

I simply can't decide what airplane to fly, VFR or IFR + FSCaptain, to fly over Germany or ORBX PNW, or.... argghhhhhhh. And what hurts most of all is that every plane I bought is really amazing, I love to fly them all. So where to start?

Start w/ P3D V2 where you have fewer confirmed choices and a much better looking sim ;o)

I have P3D V2, tried it and it works decent on my machine (30fps locked with default stuff), but I'm putting it on the side until I get better card.

Best solution for me at the moment, is to delete 90% of the planes in simobject/airplane folder and end with crippled FSX install, just to make my life easier. Errrrr, no.

For me choices is a byproduct of freedom which I hope continues forever.

What you could do is narrow the choices by type and sequence.  Have you considered joining a Virtual Airline?  That would narrow the choices of airplane and flight type.  Some start you on an airplane type, until you can accumulate hours and/or pass a test for another airplane type.  Some even assign you the flights, and others, matching reality, allow you to bid for a set of flights.  You could combine both types of flying by flying a commercial flight to a city, and then while there, virtually rent a GA aircraft and go flying in the local area, over popular destinations, etc.

Hope you have fun doing all of that.  Please post how it goes and what you decide.

VA is not an option to the moment I learn ATC phraseology completely, and be comfortable with speaking english. Also my wife tends to sleep here in the living room, so that is another stumbling stone for the mic and VA.

I tried to narrow my choices to A2A C172 for GA, WIlco Airbus for IFR, and A2A b377 for historic flights, but there is so much I have and love to try/fly.

I feel for ya, I too bought a bunch of add-ons. Spent $600 on PMDG 777 alone (all the printed material). I have a stable full of expensive aircraft, but I always comeback to the PMDG 737 NGX, 737-700 Winglets to be exact. Almost wish I hadn't spent all that money, could of had a home cockpit by now. I find that to truly enjoy the sim one must stick to one aircraft and attempt to master it. Its kind of like "Jack of all trades and Master of none". I even found myself not just uninstalling aircraft but removing repaints of the few that are left. How about all those airport sceneries we bought and hardly ever fly to or from?

Probably should not have done this, but I just went to one of the online sellers I use and added up all my orders from 2003 to present, total 1, 880 Euros.

That's funny. I am trying to decide what Aircraft I want to buy. I just got the Carenado Mirage. Through all my research the only modern jet worth getting is the PMDG 737. I really think you make a good point. You really have to plan ahead or you get caught a year or two later having spent over $1000 for what essentially is minor detail.

For me choices is a byproduct of freedom which I hope continues forever.

I agree on choices.  In my case, I limit my buying at the front end to things that I know I really want.  I'd rather "self limit" than have a more limited sim forced on me.

Beyond self-limiting based on what's available, I like to work from a rotation of 2-3 planes, slowly cycling one out of the rotation and another one back in.  As for the "where" part, I generally keep my flights contiguous, flying from A to B to C and so on.  I'll break the cycle and start fresh much like I'll slowly rotate a plane in and out.  Basically, I have a pretty good idea of where this evening's flight will be based on where I left off last night, and the (currently 2) planes in the active rotation.

One final thought:

I'm a huge fan of aviation and flying, so I equally love VFR (GA) and IFR (Jetliners).

I'm always a bit surprised when I see a division of VFR = GA, IFR = tubes.  GA, even light GA, can be the best choice out there for practicing and honing basic IFR skills.  I fly exclusively GA, but probably 60% of my flights are IFR.  Try flying IFR in a light GA plane using some of the TEC routes with no GPS in, say, SoCal if you want to challenge your practical IFR skills.

Oops.  I think I just added to your list of choices.  Sorry 'bout that!

Perhaps a purpose, or a mission, would help?

I had great fun following a friend's journey around the US last summer. Some legs were short, and perfect for the WACO, others were long and I used something faster. But wherever they stopped for the night, there was an airfield nearby and that's where landed. I logged the flight time, fuel consumption, and took pictures for Facebook. My friends thought it was amazing, particularly the high-res locations like KJAC.

Following another suggestion, I embarked on a "capital tour", visiting all of the lower 48 state capitals. Some of the legs are reeeaaaalllly boring, some are very nice, and mixing it up with real weather presents challenges.

Based upon that, I plan on embarking on a European capital tour this spring, when the weather is nicer. I tend to be "provincial" and fly the US (Orbx NA regions, to be specific), and it will be good to get out and about and see the rest of the world. The short hop between London and Paris could use the Staggerwing - longer hops, use the TBM850. Mix it up according to the flight time and weather.

After that, who knows? There are a little less than 200 countries in the world - that would be a tour to keep you busy for a while!

Here's the solution. Not all in the same day, unless you actually have time!!

Pick a country....start with A or something. Austria, or Australia. Say Australia.

Pick your aircraft - NGX and a route. Melbourne to Brisbane.

Arrive Brisbane. Next time pick the Q400.

Fly a regional route. Brisbane to Rockhampton or something.

Then use your Otter or King Air and fly to Mackay.

Jump in a little Cessan to Hamilton Island.

Then pick a fun aircraft to zoom over the beautiful whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef!!

Then turn around and fly the reverse back to Melbourne!!

So you basically extend each leg in a different aircraft. It allows you to explore the country more then just blasting in and out in a big jet. So get the best of both worlds! IFR and VFR.

Then go to the next country.....B......say........ ;)

Yup that's what I do, except I do limit where I fly to those regions where I have concentrated on upgrading my scenery by payware and freeware.  So this of course includes all Orbxland, USA, CAN, Norway, Spain, France, Italy, Argentina, NL2000 land.

That's actually a good idea, except that I simulate the life of various pilots. For example I love to fly for Lufthans with FSCaptain and Airbuses, home airport is EDDM. Next time I love to fly some VFR's around EDDM, generally Germany and Austria/Swiss with my beloved A2A C172. Then I love to simulate a life of historic B377 pilot, flying around Caribbean. So as you can see main concept in my case is to simulate a life (or job) of various pilots in various eras. If I fly with A320 and land in Melbourne, then next day I choose for example Q400 to depart from Melbourne, it isn't realistic at all for me, because it is the same pilot. :) I know that I limit a bit myself with that philosophy, but that's my way how to make it more realistic.

Tell me about it. :)
Nothing better than depart from foggy and cold EDDM and fly across Europe, than land at sunny and beautiful (Aerosoft) Skiathos. You have endless choices where to fly, from EDDF or EDDM, doesn't matter really.

I like the ability to do what you want, for the last month or so have been learning military jets especially cold war and naval ops with carriers.

I always fly using real time and weather so am currently flying a lot in the southern hemisphere and Antarctica.
