June 18, 201411 yr I was the victim of 8 minute freezes for a few years. I installed the Affinity Mask fix in the .cfg file of fsx, and have had no freezes for about 4 months. Like everything else, nothing works for everybody, but this trick has solved the problem for me. June 28, 201411 yr Hi folks, Like many of you, i too am victim to the 8 minute freeze. However, I really don't see the solution that would fix the problem. That is to say, I read the post and each post addresses the issue but they don't reveal the solution. If they did, I probably missed it from all that reading. I'm running the following: Win 7, 64-bit i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40, 8 gigs memory graphics = ATI AMD Radeon HD 6450 Vatsim (regardless if I'm connectedor not, freeze still occurs) Activesky Evolution Wilco Airbus Evolution series My opinion is that using this type of PC, I shouldn't be experiencing any freeze, right? Nevertheless I could be wrong. thanks for the help brgds
June 28, 201411 yr Author Set your AffinityMask to 14 in the FSX.cfg file. That'll help. It did for me.
June 28, 201411 yr Set your AffinityMask to 14 in the FSX.cfg file. That'll help. It did for me. what is the correct way of writing that line? could your copy and paste that part in this post for me? thnks
June 29, 201411 yr Author For Multiple Core support in FSX, add the following command line in fsx.CFG file. The setting is not shown by default. [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=n Choice of <n> as follows: For 2-core 4-thread CPU 15=1111 = ALL 4 cores 14=1110 = last 3 cores (cores read from back to front) 7=0111 = first 3 cores 3=0011 = first 2 cores 1=0001 = first core For 4-core 8-thread CPU 255=11111111 = ALL 8 cores 254=11111110 = last 7 cores 252=11111100 = last 6 cores 127=01111111 = first 7 cores 63=00111111 = first 6 cores For 6-core 12-thread CPU 4095=111111111111 = ALL 12 cores 4094=111111111110 = last 11 cores 4092=111111111100 = last 10 cores Other core settings could be calculated from corresponding binary numbers to decimal numbers as shown above. There is no need to use additional software such as Multicore Environment to achieve what is needed.

[JOBSCHEDULER] n=14 I'm also confused with: For 2-core 4-thread CPU For 4-core 8-thread CPU For 6-core 12-thread CPU is this to suggest the number or memory things I have? cuz I have 8gigs memory.
July 1, 201411 yr Author This is how you write it. At the top of the FSX.cfg [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=14 You have to look up what kind of CPU you have. I have a 4-core CPU with 8 threads. 8 has nothing to do with the memory. Once you know what kind of CPU you have, you'll know what number to set as AffinityMask.

July 12, 201411 yr Did ASN ever release a hot fix for the issue as stated early in this thread?
