EFIS Course Knob

Recommended Posts

What are the three Course KNOB settings, PRE, ACT, XFR, what are they used for, also what does the CRS knob PUSH CRS DIRECT do?

Is there any source for a more detailed explanation of the EFIS sys and how to use it other then the little info in the airplane manual?

Any source to help in explaining the EFIS sys would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

The real EFIS has the ability to have two courses selected, and the display can be switched to show either one.

PRE: select the standby course,  ACT: select the actual course, XFR: swap the two.

As best I can tell, the simulated gauge switches between NAV1 and NAV2 driving the autopilot  (without any real indication and without any real logic.. pilot beware)

Pushing the center button, sets the course to the current heading.

..further to the above..  The Tooltip (if you use it) will show NAV1 or NAV2.

I've now made a modification to my autopilot, so that ACT=NAV1 and PRE=NAV2 at all times.

That is totally arbitrary, but I prefer a defined outcome (and I have Tooltips switched off)
