January 27, 201412 yr As the title says, the Gizmo64 plugin has been updated to address a memory leak issue. Those using Skymax may want to install it, though the issue is apparently not with Skymaxx itself. More info Here: http://blog.x-plugins.com/2014/01/gizmo64-1401160253.html Note that this is not yet listed as an official update. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... January 27, 201412 yr I was the guy who first reported the memory leak using SkyMaxx. I have to say, Cameron and Ben were really helpful. Turned out Ben found a leak with Gizmo in the activation scripts, I think. His update has fixed my memory leak. I'm a truly happy camper now. No more OOM on long flights Stu i7 12700K , DDR4 64GB RAM @3600MHz, Asus Z690-Plus D4 MB, Gainward 4090 RTX Graphics, 850W Corsair PSU, Kraken AIO watercooler, Nvme 1TB ssd, 1TB ssd, 500GB ssd.
January 27, 201412 yr Thanks guys for the head's up. Really happy we can now turn the tooltray off! That was a bit annoying to be honest when accessing the 777 menu.
January 29, 201412 yr I confess I never detected any memory leaks while I used Gizmo. SMP also provided excellent frame rates in X-Plane 10.25, and my longest flight, with SMP, and hence Gizmo, active, lasted more than 8hrs! But it's good to know a new, tuned up version is available :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
January 30, 201412 yr Haven't noticed a memory leak with SMP. Does it only hit on very long flights? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
January 30, 201412 yr Commercial Member The leak occurs due to a bug in the Activation dialog. It was loading the product logos over and over and over again. The severity seems to be related to peoples GL drivers more than anything. Some people get a crash inside of an hour, some people have never seen a crash at all. I have not attempted to correlate the GL driver/card-type with the crash severity. Easier to just fix the problem. During testing I saw leak rates of 100mb/minute when using the Saab340 and SkyMAXX at the same time. Using SkyMAXX alone would result in a slower leak, probably half the rate above, it depends how big the product logos are. (Most are about the same size..) Thank you for posting this thread. It's good to get the word out. As a new commercial member here on AVSIM I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post such notice myself. I'll have to re-read the terms I suppose. I wasn't sure you were either, but as you said, it was important to get the word out. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... January 30, 201412 yr There's absolutely no problem with this type of announcement Ben. You're not announcing a sale, a new product, or whatsoever.
