There's a very recent thread/topic about StackHash crashes.  If you own MyTrafficX and haven't employed the fix then this might be your problem.  The AVSIM CTD Guide has excellent guidance for investigating StackHash crashes.  There is no known fix for everyone.  Each StackHash has to be investigated.

To see if anyone can help me understand the problem here is the report from appcrashview

Your fsx appears to be properly installed with the correct versions of Microsoft Visual C++2005 and 2008.  The 2010 version did not load (probably not needed by any FSX addon).  StackHash is the name of the crash and the last four digits on the other side is the memory address where this occurred (good luck in ever finding what was at that address!!).  It could be caused by a bad install of a product, corrupted textures (as found in MyTrafficX), high fsx.cfg and/or display driver settings, or bad modules in your dll.xml.

To make sure it is not a bad tweak in your Fsx.cfg - rename the fsx.cfg to fsx.orig, restart fsx and let the config rebuild.  Change the resolution in the display settings (it is always wrong when you first build the fsx.cfg.  Leave all other settings at the default.  See if this fixes the problem.  If not, you can go back, rename the fsx.orig back to fsx.cfg and you have your original fsx.cfg back.

Disable all addon scenery in the Scenery Library.  See if this fixes the problem.  If so, enable 3-4 sceneries at a time until the problem occurs again.  This recommendation is tricky as disabling all of your addon scenery will suddenly give you a lot of resources.  Addon scenery, if not properly configured, can bring your computer to its knees.

Disable modules in dll.xml – Sometimes a module you have installed is corrupted.  You can check to see if any modules are the cause of your crashes by disabling all modules (except the first one).  Change the parameter False in the line <Disabled>False</Disabled> to True.  If the problem is fixed, then enable each module one by one until the culprit is found.

There's a long recent thread here where I was involved in resolving a StackHash crash (Topic Subject was Multiple Crashes... StackHash, NTDLL.dll, Sim1.dll).  I found that it had to be my AI program as I downloaded and ran a program called Process Monitor.  I would start it up just before takeoff (you have to turn it on after FSX is at least at the Startup screen so it can "see" it).  Once open, you need to click on Filter.  Change Architecture to Process Name and then go to the blank space and scroll down to FSX.exe then click on Add and then OK.  Process Monitor should now be showing only FSX stuff loading.  Now go to full screen and go fly.  During the flight I wrote down the time I saw a "glitch" in the flight, like a one or two second stutter.  Of course, if it freezes or CTD's, write down the time then you need to get to the Process Monitor and click Ctrl+E.  This will capture all the events that occurred during your flight session.  Now you can scroll through to the time(s) you saw a glitch or FSX froze up or crashed.  There will be hundreds of thousands of entries for each minute but you can get an idea or see what was loading during that minute when the StackHash occurred.  Maybe you'll see a lot of TCP receive/send entries which indicates something in FSX was going on the Internet and sending/receiving info.  Most likely a weather program.  You will see where it sends/receives product licensing info too (it will so state).  If that is occurring in that "minute" you saw the glitch, maybe it was having a hard time finding the server or getting the data back to FSX.  Just remember this program is not going to tell you "here's the glitch".  You have to figure that out yourself.  An hour flight will create about a 6-7GB log file so I would not run it much longer than that.  It creates a ton of data.  For instance you can right click on each piece of data that occurred in a nanosecond and get the properties of that entry.  It will show you every program on your computer that was used to load that nanosecond.  It will show you the memory stack addresses.  Way too much stuff!  But you can delete the log file after you analyze the report and get your 6 or 7 GB's back.  Now, when I saw my fps going from 50-60 fps to suddenly 6 fps, I wrote the time down.  I think you'll be able to see what's a major glitch and what is not.  See what was loading and suspect that product.  Disable that product and see if it occurs again.  In my case I saw a lot of AI being loaded during that minute so I disabled MyTrafficX.  The StackHash crashes stopped and several others who had the same problem and owned MyTrafficX were able to fix their StackHash problem too.

Hope this helps in your investigation.

Best regards,

Thanks for your help and i did read your post plus I've rebuilt the cfg before and the problem I figured out would occur when adjusting the scenery settings in flight or clicking cancel on the control page during flight. I'm not sure what that would be affiliated with. I don't have random fsx ctds it's just after I've been clicking around.

Do you know how I could get in contact with the microsoft technician that helped you locate your fault. Firehawk44
