Even 1024 megs is MINIMUM with my FS9, i often saw that it peaked easily in 1024 range...RAM is cheap, get it while you can ! ;D(btw, 2048 ram is nice for gfx work and video editing too :( )

You'll have to try it out and see...! It will help to have more RAM, but it depends how fast your processor works. There is a lot of interaction between processor, RAM, and video card (and its ob-board RAM.)Use your Windows Task Manager to check RAM usage before and after installing the additional RAM. Make notes of % used, etc.Then you can upgrade your video card too. I think you'll find the combo of more RAM + a new video card will provide some visible difference and improvement.PMDG NG is both processor intensive and video card intensive. The glass cockpit with its myriad gauges requires a lot of h.p. It really challenges the PC. JS

As per a thread I started a while back. Take a look, this may help ya.I cannot take credit for this fix or tweak, it comes to me from one of my fellow pilots at Canadian Virtual Airlines. But this tweak is an important one, and one well worth checking into. It is the most important, effective tweak I have done yet. As said by my fellow pilot:Apparently, newer high-end video cards hog PCI latency for no valid reason. This makes other components wait for access and causes stutters and lower frame rates. If you adjust the latency, users are reporting big improvements. I put my system under as much stress as possible and still found an increase in frame rates of 50 - 100%.Then download this small utility program that allows you set your PCI latency.http://www.audiotrack.co.kr/spboard/board....page=1&go_cnt=0I adjusted my PCI latency from 248 to 64, and NEVER had such smooth flying, even with the dark, ominus (spelt right?) clouds.Hope this helps some of you out!

Hi, probable sounds like I am bragging (hope not) but I used to #### around tweaking my system, to get it stutter free until one day I had enough. I went crazy and installed an ATI X800XT card, 700GB of HD and a Pentium 4 processor with a raid configuration (I have 6 drives) one solely for FS9 and Zielaman fans to cool the overclocking. I also installed 4GB of Corsair Ram. It is now stutter free. Thank God.I know you ptobable know all this anyway but I kept trying to tweak mysystem to do something it physically couldn't, I am just trying to save you the time.Best of luck Paul

Reason I ask, is that there was an earlier thread in the Hardware forum that claimed that for the GF4 series of cards, the 56.72 drivers were the last drivers produced by Nvidia that did not stutter. You can get lower fps rates in denser scenery, but the simulation stays smooth.See this link: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=4921&page= I was running 61.76 drivers at the time, was getting stutters and was reluctant to go back, but when I tried it, it proved to be well worth the change.Now, you may be tired of "trying this and that", but since stutters are your main concern, and it will not cost you anything, I'd recommend uninstalling the current drivers, loading up the 56.72 drivers and test flying them.
