Peter's Airctaft A321 3D Cockpit Released!

Is this available for purchase with the 3D cockpit now? If it is, I will purchase it. As I use track IR.

Thanks, Ian

Hi Ian.

I'm pretty certain it is available for purchase with the 3D cockpit. But only the A321 with IAE engines. The others will come very shortly. You can email Peter if you have a question before buying, he's very helpful ;)

How are the fps with this beautiful cockpit?

They're not too bad. I've actually only spent about 5-10 minutes in the thing so I wasn't able to do a real comparison. For me there is a drop in FPS but it really isn't significant. But then again, I didn't get to spend time testing it out :/

I got mine, but I haven't installed it yet.  I don't think Peter's has as deep of an MCDU as the neo, does it?

No, they don't really compete in the MCDU segment. The Neo is normally the sure winner as long as you don't deactivate the Autopilot. Then Peters Airbus operates in a different class. The Neo has no chance to even compete with Peters Airbus or the QPACwhen we talk about FlyByWire.

Problem is, none simulates the most basic FBW feature of the Airbus...

Sometimes I feel mierable about flightsims, and their limitations... You see so much things simulated and, at the same time, so many basic features missed.

I can't understand why, for instance, the acclaimed PMDG 777 was released with such a major bug in their C* U law implementation, why these Airbuses don't really

match C*...

Add to this the poor turbine implementation, with parameters that are really far from reality... and for me, this is a good reason to look forward and wait for better releases

in the future :-/

They look like airbuses, all of them, some are nicer to fly, that's for sure, and in that area I really prefer Peter's and the QPAC feel, but unfortunately not because they behave like airbuses :-/

Hi there!

I finally got my upgrade, Peter informed me that his email couldn´t get through my spam filter, but we found a different way. Thanks for this great support, Peter! ;-)

The look and performance of this 3D Cockpit is really good, it adds very much to the feeling of actually being there.

Flying an approach and landing is much easier and more immersive this way. FPS-wise it´s really good as well, maybe 10-25% less, but still very fluid!

Some glitches I had on my first flight (it´s been a nice VATSIM online flight, to keep things interesting ;-):

-Taxi light doesn´t work

-RWY turnoff lights don´t work

-nosegear lights stay on and on their place when gear is up

-WX radar panel looks weired when lighting is on at night

-A/P isn´t banking more than approximately 15 degrees which led to problems following the flight plan (especially on a SID)

Can anyone confirm this issues?

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

The lights are designed to be functional only with HDR on. But for me the strobes don't work - neither with HDR on nor off.

I have HDR enabled, Landing lights, beacon and strobe work as they should.

With v5.2b, the all the lights worked flawlessly.

Did you already try to follow a flightplan?

Yes, I would like to see it too :-)

Unfortunately, there isn't a single Airbus, among the various simulation platforms ( haven't tested a version for Flight Gear, but I guess it may end up on the same team... ), not a single one, that AT LEAST models the C* law plausibly :-(

I have the JAR design, Peters A321 CFM and A380 ( Emirates ), the QPAC A320 V2 for X-Plane 10, and the Aerosoft Airbus X Extended for FSX.  They all fail to model what the C* is :-(

Have you tried the free Jeehell cockpit A320 suite? :)

Hi J.C.,

I has been a long time since I get on board a real Airbus, so what you described is even less comprehensible to me, a pure virtual pilot.  I have not tried the Neo lately, but a few months ago, it took off like a light twin rather than a heavy and that was really odd.  I have not turned off the autopilot on approach yet, and from what I read here I should never do that or the bird will behave strangely?  It seems that the sim world has a hard time simulate an Airbus Xplane or FSX, even if the whole flybywire system is heavily computer controlled. One would think that it would make simulate them "easier" on a computer sum ;-)

I will take a second look at Peter's Airbus once the MDCU is completed.  I would like to "simulate" a real life flight between two cities, unlike your typical short pattern manual flights, so flying a complete flight without this piece of flight deck avionics seem weird to me.

Isn't that for FSX/P3D only?

Yep - but what's your point?

My other findings: the VC clickspots  are a real pain to manipulate - too tiny - and rotating is  far too sensitive.

And I really have a strobe issue: they blink once and then they're gone :(

When on A/P and NAV, my A/P and FD only allow approximately 15 degrees of bank. So steeper turns (SIDs, etc.) are not possible, that worked perfectly in v5.2b.

The strobe works for me, the clickspots could be a little bigger, I agree.

No problems here - Banks to 30 degrees. Do you use X-FMC, UFMC or somthing like that?

I create my flightplans with simroutes.com - manually typing in the actual SIDs and STARs and loading it into the Default FMGC.

Btw my strobes are working now

I use the UFMC for the x737, but not for the Airbus. But I read sometime ago that one should deactivate the UFMC when flying Peters Airbus to avoid problems....

By the way, I love manually entering SIDs and STARs. It makes you really reading and understanding the charts!
