Aerosoft releases Night Environment - Belgium

Featured Replies

Chris has really created a masterpiece.

Looking outside the windows from my home cockpit at night is a total new experience.

This the first time FSX is looking real at night.

Approaching Amsterdam Schiphol and going final over the city adds a realistic and dramatic feeling.

Great work Chris.

EUR 14 per country is a bit steep IMHO.

I may have bought this if it was a larger area (for example "Northern Eurpope") of say 6 or 7 countries, and at a price of about EUR 25.

But I never fly in Belgium, so wouldn't pay EUR 14 for night lights for one of the smallest countries in Europe!

(No offence to Belgique / Belgie;  you understand my point).

None taken

It is indeed a high price. 20EUR for the ol' continent and they would have had me on board...

Aerosoft have made a change in plan in regards to NE Series a while back

the price and strategy for Night Environment have been restructured

Sometimes projects do not work out as expected. Getting the price point and feature set right is hard. And clearly with Night Environment we did not got it all right and it’s better to change things as fast as possible. So here is the new plan.

We will start with four sections:

  • NE-Benelux (Netherlands/Belgium/Luxembourg) at €10.50 (will be available early next week)
  • NE-German at €12.10
  • NE-Scandinavia (Sweden/Norway/Finland) at €10.50
  • NE-California at €12.10
All prices are without EU VAT (so it will be €12.95 and €14.95 for EU customers. Existing customers of NE-Belgium or NE-Netherlands will get a copy of NE-Benelux as a replacement.

Technically there will be some tweaks as well in responce to customers suggestion. Keep those coming btw. However, keep in mind there is no such thing as a database of streetlights. What is used is a database of roads. Now clearly there are streets that have (at the highest level of Night Environment settings) lights in FSX while they do not have lights in the real world. We feel this still works fine as lights at night are always near roads. Houses, cars, petrol stations, advertisements etc they all line up along roads. Of course when you feel it is still too much you can always go down a level!

The Berlin demo is still available (it's updated to version 1.10 to fix a few issues btw) at:

http://mirror-eu.aerosoft.com/demo/AS_NIGHT-ENVIROMENT-BERLIN-DEMO_FSX.zip

Hope this clears up some of the issues!

Guys,

Being a day-one user of this product (purchased both Belgium and Netherlands, now both transferred to the Benelux product), I can honestly say this product adds a lot to the night flying experience.

I will certainly buy more packages in the future, depending on where they are on the globe. Looking forward to more Europe coverage (Germany, UK, France) and the Western US.

Regards,

Frank van der Werff

Just stumbled on this project, definitely looking forward to US coverage at some point in the future. This would be a great complement to Megascenery Earth!

Noted, thanks for pointing it out. I'll fix that when have a moment; the rules have been updated since my sig was created years ago, and I received no notification of the changes.

I see they also now allow only two images and five links, so we both need to make updates.

Thanks for your understanding, Michael. Looking at your signature, I feel a somewhat bad about pointing the new rules out to you, setting that signature up must've been a lot of work. I'm really sorry about you having to remove all that.

Also thanks for pointing out the 2images/5URLs to me, but being a moderator has some advantages .

Kind regards,

Florian
