I wanted GTX 770 but it's too big for my medium size tower and too heavy for my 600W psu.

 

So after a little search i purchased this little gem from Asus! GTX 760 Mini! It's a small but powerful card! More details here. The price was 250 € with 23% VAT and delivery costs.

 

I made a flight last night from LGIR to LGTS with Airbus Extended and here my first impressions: 

 

1) With 4x AA setting in the Fixer, shimmering almost gone! There is only an acceptable shimmering level from water and from aircraft's panel but now is readable! (Airbus is not as detailed as PMDG 737)

 

2) A completely different water! The REX4 water now has ...waves! Now i can "feel" way better the aircraft's height from the sea! 

 

3) Steady 30 fps (with unlimited fps setting) and smooth without stutters! With 6850 i had higher frames but not smooth! Only a couple of microstutters throughout the flight! When i was landing to LGTS frames dropped to 20-25 but again smooth! I don't count autogen "moving image" when takeoff or descent as stutters. Right?  

 

4) I think this card not support DX9. I had awful shimmering. I don't know if i must do some changes in the Inspector. 

 

5) Even with one fan is very quiet in comparison with 6850.

 

I used the Inspector settings from the "How-to" guide. But what is confuses me is nvidia control panel with system and program settings. What to choose?

 

 

 

I have 760 gtx and made difference with clouds and water no more shader 3 modifications needed. Used to have 7750 hd it okay at low mid setting but it acted it up cranking up settings.

Hey, Jewel:  Don't touch the Nvidia Control Panel - just use the latest Inspector to control the 760. Once the Nvidia driver is installed - just open Insopector and go from there, following the most recent guide (today) - and Congrats on the move!

 

Hey, Gizmosellsbunnys (??  :lol:  ) Shader 3.0 was introduced by Bojote to improve the DX9 graphics. It has no effect on DX10 graphics, as that uses Shaders v4.0 already built in.

I returned to Base for Global settings and FSX for program settings.  

 

It's OK now?

Should be. Inspector has several features that the CP doesn't have. Keep at it! :wink:

Why? You don't have to.

I choose the "MS Flight Simulator X " profile in the Inspector and i close it. Then when i open it again it has the "Base" profile. Is it normal?

Yep. You need to select the profile that you want to edit, Jewel - in our case - the "MS Flight Simulator X" profile. Once it's edited, it goes back into its little box until you launch FSX. We have to change FSX's profile, as we're using DX10, and it's quite different from the stock FSX.

 

But we don't use the Nvidia CP at all. ever.

Did REX4 improve the DX10 water animations?  I've been holding off on it since it's just textures and you still have to use the old REX Essentials for the weather engine (though I guess I could do REX4 and Opus) but if they have made an improvement to the DX10 versions of the water animations (most of which suck in REX Essentials) then I might just jump to it.

Yes Charles! REX4 has new DX9, DX10 and DX11 water and textures! 

 

I see that you have GTX too. My previous ATI card displayed awful DX10 water.

 

I use too REX3 weather engine until the release of REX4 weather engine.

With my new GTX760 and after many hours of flying i can say that i have a new sim that will accompany me for the next years without make any further upgrade to my rig or touch any sliders!

 

UPDATE from my first post is that 1) i fixed (not dissapearing) more the shimmering issue. The cause was some changes that i made in nvidia's control panel. I reinstalled driver and without touch

 

control panel i made changes in the Inspector and the image became like DX9! VC is crystal clear now and this is what i like most than a distant shimmering! WOW! GTX rocks! :smile:

 

2) Frames can drop down to 10-15 fps when at heavy airports and with PMDG 737 but without OOM!

 

Every addon works fine! Now i can fly from A to B succesfully!

 

P.S.: Paul how i can put your DX10 signature in mine? :smile:
