Aerosoft Approach lights no worky with DX10 fixer during daytime

Recommended Posts

Approach lights seem to be INOP during the day on both Anchorage and Fairbanks. During the evening or night, the approach lights work fine as well as the runway lights.

Is there a work-around for this??

Note: FS Dream Team, LatinVFR and FlightBeam payware airports approach lights work fine during the day with the DX10 fixer.

1).Does it display this same this behaviour when using DX9?

From PANC's chart

2). 7R: ALSF2: standard 2,400 foot high intensity approach lighting system with centerline sequenced flashers (category II or III)

        (ADE shows 6R for 7R)

3). 7L: MALSR: 1,400 foot medium intensity approach lighting system with runway alignment indicator lights

        (ADE shows 6L for 7L)

4). 15: Approach lights: ODALS: omnidirectional approach lighting system

        (ADE shows 14 for 15)

No approach lights at the opposing ends. No time limits mentioned would suggest 24-hr Approach lighting systems.

I may be wrong, - and Steve (or Jim Vile) would need to correct me, but the Fixer would have no influence on day/night timing for approach lighting. I can;'t see anything in ADE which would be able to make them "night-only"..

Yes, the approach lights do work during the day in dx9. It makes it easier to spot the runway :-)

I forgot to mention... The approach lights worked at Anchorage PANC when there was an AI aircraft taxi-ing near the runway whith it's taxi lights on.. I noticed this a fews days ago.. because I almost crashed into it as I was slowing down.. hehe

I believe a fix for this would be to make up an invisible lights .BGL with the DX10 toolkit, for the lat/long of Anchorage and Fairbanks Aerosoft payware airports - but I am unfamiliar with the DX10 toolkit and exactly how to do it.

I followed your instructions for Aerosoft PANC (Anchorage) payware airport and I have my approach lights! Thanks a bunch :-)

I will follow the same instructions with the other Aerosoft payware airport (Fairbanks) tonight but I don't think I'll have any problems because Anchorage PANC works!

ok, i did some more testing with Aerosoft Anchorage and the lightfield does help but only works if the departure airport is within 10 miles of PANC.. If I take off from say Homer and fly to PANC the approach lights are off again. Aerosoft payware airports seem to be real inconsistant with their runway approach lights in DX10 mode.

Is psuedo code:

If mode = dx9 then approach lights work all the time

If mode = dx10 and AI aircraft taxiing near runway then approach lights work

if mode = dx10 and lightfield present AND departure airport <= 10 miles then approach lights work

if mode = dx10 and taking off from PANC and land PANC (i.e. touch & go) AND lightfield present  then approach lights work

If mode = dx10 and departing from an airport that is greater than 10 miles AND lightfield IS / IS NOT PRESENT Approach lights do not work (unless AI aircraft taxiing near runway)

Steve or Paul your thoughts?? am I doing something wrong?? I put the lightfield bgl for PANC in the Aerosoft scenery folder... should it go somewhere else??

Thanks,

Scott

'Fraid I'm not in the same league as Steve, Scott! Nice to be mentioned in the same sentence, but I'm just the messenger!

Best,

Thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it!

At least the Aerosoft PANC approach liights seems to be consistant at night - when it REALLY counts! (even though some ground vehicles are missing textures at night)... also PANC approach lights somewhat works with the lightfield during the day :-)

As mentioned before, FS DreamTeam and Flightbeam airports (especially KFDW & KPHX) seem to be flawless in DX10 mode (day or night)

Hopefully Aerosoft will get around to updating their sceneries to work with DX10/DX11, as more people gravitate to the newer technologies (i.e. FSX with DX10 Fixer and P3DV2 with DX11).

Thanks again!

One can hope. But I fear the time that happens, I will be getting pushed on a swing whilst being fed trifle.
