No Video

Recommended Posts

Just bought an Alienware 14 with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 750 Video Card.

When launching FSX everything appears to be normal.   I can configure my controls, select airplanes, etc.  However, when I hit fly now, something goes wrong.   I do see a couple of windows where the program is loading terrain and traffic data.  After that, the screen goes blank.  I can hear something in the background but there is no video.

If I hit the escape key, I go back to the End Flight screen/menu.  If I hit end flight, I go back to the main menu screen.

I loaded the game, the service pack that came on the CD, plus service pack 1 & 2.

Everything looks good but NO VIDEO when flying.  Tied multiple planes.  Even tried the training missions.   Same problem

Sounds like a FSX installation problem.  You state, "I loaded the game, the service pack that came on the CD, plus service pack 1&2".  There's no service pack that comes on the FSX CD/DVD.  You install FSX, run it once to get it properly activated and make sure it is running properly.  Then install SP1, run FSX at least one time and then install SP2.  You are going to have to completely uninstall FSX and reinstall.   Here's an excellent guide for uninstalling - http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.  You need to read how to uninstall as FS is not completely uninstalled by clicking on the FSX in the Add/Remove Programs.  It leaves a lot of garbage on your computer and you will have a very difficult time reinstalling it.  I recommend you use a registry cleaner like CCleaner before reinstalling.  When reinstalling, make sure you right click the install programs and select Run as Administrator.  Everything is included in the guide.

maybe see if you can switch to windowed mode from the graphics options before you start flying, full screen is unstable sometimes..

also perhaps get nvidia inspector and look for a fsx setup guide for good settings for that..

cheers

I've been searching on the web for this, it seems that other users have no joy, although a couple bought a new FSX disc and it sorted out the problem (I think the user moved up to the Gold editiion). Another user tried DX10 which also worked for him.
