March 5, 201412 yr I've got FTX Global base pack. I've got a mesh package (the other guy's). The initial release of Vector came with the requisite complaints so I've been sitting on the fence. But now that 1.1 is out, I'm trying to decide if I should take the plunge or go with the old school. I specifically want to improve my FSX experience in Europe. So simply, would my money best be spent on Vector or UTX Europe? March 15, 201412 yr Depends... UTX is a lot more detailed and contains Vector and LC improvements including secondary roads where Vector only has major roads (Currently). Once Orbx releases Europe LC to be used with Vector then a comparison can really be made. I have UTX NA and Europe and still plan on getting Vector to cover the rest of the world. Chris Camp
March 15, 201412 yr Author I really, really like the idea of FTX Global Vector. Its a one stop solution and will work well with the Open LC and FTX Global texture products. But, and its a big but, UTX USA, Canada and Europe are so far in front in terms of accuracy that at this moment in time, FTX Vector is simply not a viable option. The UTX / FTX Global texture combo works out pretty well. You just have to disable the LUX landclass layer in UTX or else you get some odd mismatches between the custom UTX textures and the FTX Global ones. Im sticking with this combo until Vector is at version 2 and beyond and then review options. I figure If OpenLC is good, then I can just disable the UTX landclass altogether and go with the Orbx FTX Open LC version. After reading this in another AVSIM thread, and hearing about yet another problem with how many rivers are presented in Vector 1.1, my decision is made. Maybe when Vector 2.0 comes out, I'll reconsider. Depends... Can you layer two vector products so you can choose which has priority? March 15, 201412 yr I have dumped Vector in favor of UTX because of missing items like major rivers. But I fly opnly in North America so I can't tell you about Europe. I was hoping when the second version of Vector was released the Pelly River in Yukon would show up, but it was still missing. Vector is a work in progress and will probably be revised to include missing features in time. But at 80 years of age I can't wait that long so I am sticking with UTX and foregoing Global and Vector. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
