Reinstall the update

Recommended Posts

Guest Emanuele

Hi guys, the previous week I have updated my FS to the 9.1 version and DirectX to 9.0c version. For some little problems I decided to uninstall 9.0c and come back to 9.0b. How? Coming back to a previous configuration point of Windows (sorry but i really don't know the english terms :-shy ).Today I'm flying over the Alps and... SBUM! Another CTD like with the 9.0 version.I check the FS9 version (in the Help menu, in the Windows register and with the FS9.exe icon) and in fact I read always 9.0. But if I try to reinstall the 9.1 update Win reply me that it is already installed. How can I do??? Many thanks for anyone can help me!!!:-zhelp

Sure: RTFM. To be somewhat more kind: delete (or for safety: rename) the "BACKUP" file in your FS main folder before you reinstall the patch. That file is the culprit.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

If you created a checkpoint prior to installing DX9.0c, you might be able to fall back to 9.0b. I wouldn't recommend it. 9.0c is stable and unlikely to be the cause of your problem. Make sure you have no duplicate AFCADs - they are frequently the cause of CTDs and do affect only certain areas where there are conflicts.DJ

Hi DJ,I didn't had the CTD that I refer in my previous message with DirectX 9.0c installed but with the 9.0b. This CTD was probably like the ones generated over the Alps by the FS9.0 version. I have reinstalled the patch and now all goes fine. However I decided to uninstall Dx 9.0c principally for some frame rate problems. I noticed these, especially in flight with a lot of clouds and on the ground. Now, with the Dx 9.0b installed I have not any problem.Emanuele
