Can MS Flight sim ever be 100% complete and perfect ?

Here's a question i've always thought about: will there ever be a time when MS Flight sim is 100% complete with features and as near perfect so that production on the 'next' version will stop for ever? It just seems that every two years microsoft release an update with a few new extras and bug fixes but it never seems to satisfy the flight sim user completely as we are then always on to 'what next'. So when do you expect the upgrade cycle to stop [if ever]?

The problem is that the sim can never keep up with computer developments.Looking back at sims which in their time appeared to be cutting edge now they are dated and look it.Five years ahead I am sure we will look back to now and FS9 will appear dated. Can the sim itself ever be perfect probably not becuase it can never satisfy everyones wishes or be targetted at those wishes.Peter

not bloody likely. But neither can any other desktop PC simulation. Until we've reached a stage where we can plug our neural receptors directly into a "dream machine" sims will always have limitations. No $60 piece of software viewed on a 19, 20, 40, whatever inch monitor (or group of monitors) will ever be a perfect representation of reality. That doesn't mean it can't be great (which it is even in its current state), but perfection is a long way away...

define: completedefine: perfecta perfect and complete simulation would model the real world in perfect precision. This requires more computing power than can be packed into a computer the size of that world.Consider that even the multiple Crays in the bowels of the world's largest met offices cannot do more than give a rough forecast a few days ahead of what the weather will do. They cannot determine microclimates with any degree of precision. And for that they need hours of computing time to create a static image.A perfect simulation would do that constantly and in real time. And that's just the weather.Linked Crays in aeronautical institutes can now make decent predictions of the static aerodynamics of an aircraft design, but real test data (from first wind tunnel models and later prototype aircraft) are still needed and often require manual analysis in order to determine dynamic behaviour. For that often days of processing time is needed for a single state.A perfect simulation would have to compute that dynamic behaviour in real time.

Considering Microsoft is doing FS9 for selling it (besides the passion and talent of the individuals involved in developping it) I guess you just said why it would never be: because if it is, they won't be able to re sell to everyone of us a new version!
