March 31, 201412 yr .......and they are? I see more than two? Dictionary Definition: Couple: (functioning as singular or plural). a combination of two; a pair; (informal) a small number In Practice, if I said that something would be "A Couple of Days", I'd hope that the person hearing that phrase didn't expect "In a time frame no less than 47 hours and 59 minutes and no more than 48 hours and 1 minute". I agree though, that this use of "Couple" kind of makes the word "Few" somewhat redundant. I do occasionally use the phrase "A couple of things" or "A couple of minutes" to mean "An undetermined number of things or minutes that has not yet even been estimated, but is likely to be small." Like "How many minutes will it take for your PC to reboot?" "A couple of minutes" If it turns out to be 3 minutes and 18.5 seconds, was I wrong to call this "A couple of minutes?" Especially if I wasn't sure if it would be 3 minutes, or 1 minute, or if I was really secretly hoping it would be 5 seconds, but had a secret fear that the HardDrive was corrupted, and maybe it wouldn't boot at all?
