Reverse Thrust in FS9

Recommended Posts

Guest KGFL

I'm not able to activate reverse thrust in FS9 using the F2 key, as I have done in FS2002. I can't seem to find it in the "Controls-Assignments" menu under options. Is the only way to reverse thrust is on the throttle quadrant? Please help!

I have the function set to a repeating button on the joystick and therefore it should also be available as a key assignment. Remember the throttle must be at idle (F1 to test) before reverse thrust can be engaged as a function.

Do any of your other "F" keys work? I have a keyboard with an "F-Lock" button that enables the "F" keys to do other functions like having a completly seperate row of keys. "F-Lock" is off by default at boot-up and if I forget to turn it on before I fly, my "F" keys don't work either. Food for thought anyway.good luck,Jim

Jim,You might be on to something. I installed a new wireless keyboard that appears to have a "lock" botton. I'll reset to default command assignments and "unlock" the F keys next time I boot up FS9.Thanks for the suggestion.

Jim,Thanks for your suggestion...it worked. Just completed a Delta Shuttle flight KBOS-KLGA with Kitty Hawk 737-800. F2 activated reverse thrust after touch down on RWY 4.

Another possibility (just for the books and future reference in case anyone bothers to use the searchfunction in the future with this problem :-lol):callibrate your throttle. If it's jittery (like mine is) callibrate it to show 0 deflection a bit before the stop so it'll be stable at 0 when pulled fully back. If it isn't the reversers won't engage or will disengage immediately.

...and to add to that, my previous joystick sucked for staying 100% calibrated...and so the throttle would spike a couple of times per second on average, making it impossible to use reversers properly. Also, use F1 with F2 at the same time, as F1 cuts the throttle to zero.
