February 6, 200521 yr Author Well if you have trees growing in the airport then that's a since of realism. i don't mean to sound funny, but i just liked what you said about trees growing. Best Regards Adib Afraj Best Regards Adib Afraj
February 25, 200521 yr Hi there,A funny thing happened a month ago; several people emailed me to complain about the trees growing up through their runways. I find it strange that although this scenery was released quite some time ago, people are just finding problems now, (and all the same time) but that is how these things go, sometimes. There's a bit of guessing about what-does-what in this topic, so I'll clear a few things up:"It appears that "Bangkok Scenery" not only adds Bangkok city but *also* adds more buildings to Chiang Mai airport."This is incorrect - the two sceneries are completely independent of each other. This leads me to suspect that the sceneries weren't installed properly, or that one may have been installed over another."AVBDXXX.bgl lays down the revised texture which is responsible for the "new" look to the airport property, including additional autogen buildings and trees."Almost - this file excludes the default skirting, as well as any VTP2 lines I want to get rid of. The files VTBD_3,5,9 are the ones that lay down new lines, including the airport skirting that would prevent the trees from showing through. All other "_EX" files are there to exclude default objects."That airport is missing its skirting, the grass that underlies the entire airport (and prevents trees from appearing!)"Luis has it right. For some reason, the skirting isn't being displayed properly. Now, I can tell you that it displays properly on most people's machines (I did include the file). So, there must be some other reason why this file isn't getting loaded properly. So, I've been quite busy for the last month, and I haven't been able to really throw myself at the problem. To date, I have not been able to duplicate the problem on any of my machines. I have a stripped down version of FS on one of my computers that I use specifically for debugging, and the problem never showed itself. Some users have noted some success with changing the priority of the scenery. Please read what my new-best-friend Chuck had to write:"Now that we are on the same page, I want to confirm that I no longer have a problem with trees being in the wrong place on your scenery. My problem disappeared, as I mentioned below, by checking my scenery.cfg file and ensuring that all scenery files were assigned numbers higher than all mesh, objects and other default files. After making only a few adjustments I then deleted the scenery status.dat file which was regenerated when I restarted FS9. Whatever was wrong before was obviously corrected with this action."He was very proactive and figured this out on his own - I never would have figured this out. So, for him, that worked. I hope that people will try this and see if it helps.I'm interested to know if this helps anyone, and I'd also like to hear from others who are having the same problem.- Martin My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
March 19, 200620 yr Hi there,If anyone is still having problems with my Bangkok scenery tree problem, please send me an email and I'll send you a few files that "might" fix your problem. I'm just guessing what the problem might be, since so few people have reported it and I'm unable to duplicate it, but I "might" have a soultion.- Martinmartinstrong(at)martinstrong(dot)com My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
March 19, 200620 yr ???He did not put the files in Addon SceneryScenery. He has created new scenery libraries. Scenery library priority is independent of where you put them on the disk.I would suggest that you do your best NOT to put scenery files or libraries in the FS9scenery directory. It doesn't matter too much, but this directory is where the default files go, and I think you will be better off if you don't put libraries in this directory as it will ease file management. What is important is the order in which your scenery libraries are listed in the SettingsScenery Library window. Exclude files function just fine no matter where you put them, as long as the libraries that contain them have the correct priority in the scenery library. Whatever scenery has the higher priority will take over. Library 1 has the highest priority (unless it is mesh, then it has the lowest priority according to Holger Sandmann). Within any given scenery library/directory, the priority order is controlled by their alphabetical naming order. But I can't imagine the author would create trees and then exclude them, so this shouldn't be an issue. You could test it by creating a new scenery library and put the exclude files in this directory, and give that library a higher priority.I've recently listed some information regarding scenery installation at my website under the "Microsoft Flight Simulator" heading, then select Installation. The site is still growing, but I think there is some good information to help understand how to install scenery. Let me know what you think.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
