April 8, 201412 yr Hi! Looking forward to SP1 release. How about WX support for FSGRW? Would be highly appreciated. Oliver W.
April 8, 201412 yr What is the standard operation for weather radar in say a 737 or 777? Is the radar operated while the aircraft is on the ground? (assuming that would be a no due to radiation risk to ground personnel). If it isn't operated on the ground at what altitude would the pilots switch it on/off? Richard Bansa
April 8, 201412 yr Is the radar operated while the aircraft is on the ground? You can turn it on when on the ground. All the aircraft radars I've used have a weight on wheels switch built into the landing gear to cease firing when on the ground.
April 8, 201412 yr Has anybody actually encountered a 'dangerous' storm in ASN yet? I have flown through a lot of thunderstorms by mistake at night, was actually quite disappointing after reading all the hype about ASN. Genuine question, not trying to knock ASN. Regards Flew into MDSD last week from KMCO. About 40nm north of Dominican Republic I, for the first time that I can remember saw CB's well over 35k, closer to 50,000ft plus with ASN. Pulling up the radar (cant wait for the NGX to have it built in) and I for the first time ever started some serious deviations around the weather. Closer into MDSD I could not get around all of it and when I entered it, it tossed the plane around quite a bit. Listening to the ATIS via ASN it was reporting windshear northeast of the airport. I should have diverted but...... Anyway, very realistic stuff. If this is any indication, this summer over the US, the Vatsim controllers will be inundated with deviation requests. Eric
April 8, 201412 yr Commercial Member Predictive windshear automatically turns on when you set take off thrust. You would normally manually switch it on when you are well away from the gate. Rob Prest
April 9, 201412 yr Closer than yesterday. Now, really, didn't you learned anything in this whole time. You know that PMDG won't tell you that, besides, perhaps, "We're closer!!" Why keep insisting. I know ... but it's like sitting in your newly painted living room, or watching that brand new kettle or being a kid strapped in the back of a car .... and asking those obvious questions ... You can't help it But you do. Tessa Hauke
April 9, 201412 yr To me..... the weather radar in FS plane is dream thought impossible.....With T7 & NGX it's the holly grail of FSX - I don't know if it is phrased properly excuse my English) Alaa A. RiadJust love to fly............... W11 64-bit, MSFS2020, Intel Core i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20 Ghz 6 Cores, 2 TR HD, 16.0 GB DDR4 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 MB GDDR5
April 9, 201412 yr Commercial Member With T7 & NGX it's the holly grail of FSX Welp...you let the secret out... The real reason we haven't released the SP is that it truly is the Holy Grail of simulation, and none shall pass unless we are presented with a shrubbery: EDIT (for clarity): One that looks nice...and not too expensive... Kyle Rodgers
April 9, 201412 yr Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say `nee' at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress at this period in history. --Peter Fabian
April 10, 201412 yr Author Commercial Member Real world - If the weather radar is inop you don't fly.So yes, standard equipment on all modern airliners. Rob- OH! Victim of bogus information. This is actually not true... You have an MMEL and approved company opspecs to comply with- but you can still fly... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
April 10, 201412 yr Rob- OH! Victim of bogus information. This is actually not true... You have an MMEL and approved company opspecs to comply with- but you can still fly... Very true. Pilots just need to remember that before hopping into the cockpit, they must ensure they are carrying their weather rock and a pair of binoculars (FLIR - Foward Looking I-ball Reconnaissance). Matthew Bellette
April 10, 201412 yr Commercial Member Rob- OH! Victim of bogus information. This is actually not true... You have an MMEL and approved company opspecs to comply with- but you can still fly... Oh c'mon Robert, of course their is a MEL, company SOP & obviously common sense... 99% of time where I live it is CAVOK. 777's and other aircraft are dispatched inter gulf with not a cloud in the sky en-route . Nothing to do with Bogus info. Rob Prest
April 10, 201412 yr Rob- OH! Victim of bogus information. This is actually not true... You have an MMEL and approved company opspecs to comply with- but you can still fly... You got it wrong Robert, Flex is correct. You cannot depart without a working wx radar, and I believe he is referring to international routes, and this rule is particularly true for over water flights.
